The 2017 Cars & Couture Fashion Show

This country’s youth culture was basically built on hot girls, hotrod cars, and the sexy sleek sensibility of rock and roll. Ever-changing styles in hair, make-up and dress influenced generations. Seeing how latex is becoming so mainstream it’s no surprise to encounter the marriage of great American institutions that the 2017 Cars & Couture Fashion Show represents.

Dawnamatrix and Summer Jam 2017

It’s really fun to be part of all this great music of late. From Katy Perry’s “Bon Appétit” is video, to dressing Kima for this famous annual hip-hop fest, music is certainly in air round the Dawnamatrix design studio, as it always is in our hearts. And to be part of Summer Jam, in the small way we were, when this year a legend like Notorious B.I.G. was honored, was an even bigger thrill.

RuPaul’s Drag Con

Drag Con will be held in L.A. next year, and dates for a NYC version of the con were just announced (Sept 9th-10th) to be held at the massive Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. RuPaul and her fans, vendors, exhibitors and just about everyone else into fashion, drag, freedom and a good time are sure to find New York City as wild to party in as they do L.A.

Behind the Scenes of Katy Perry’s “Bon Appétit” Music Video

From getting the call from stylist team stylist team Rob Zangardi & Mariel Haenn to provide a latex kimono, our Lux Bra and High Waisted Panty (and other stuff not used in the video) to the actual thrill of seeing what Dawnamatrix clothing was indeed used to now enjoying this nuts-and-bolts little peek, Bon Appétit has been quite the scrumptious meal for us.

Saying No To Latex?

When adult product makers began to take the final steps away from phthalates (those nasty little chemicals put into plastics and silicone to increase durability and flexibility), and fashion designers went hypoallergenic with metals, lots of possibilities sprang up. It was a ‘necessity is the mother of perversion’ in this case, but we all benefit now from much healthier products, from the clothes we make at Dawnamatrix and even the beGloss lube we sell. to what you might buy for your bedroom play.

50 Years of Sgt. Pepper’s Style, Music and Mastery

This month marks the 50th Anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. This famous music milestone by John, Paul, George and Ringo was not only the 8th album released by The Beatles, but is arguably the rock album that changed pop music forever.

Red Shoes And The Seven Dwarfs Shames Us?

Movie maker Locus Creative Studios is not being celebrated this first week after the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, precisely because of body shaming. In its remake ‘parody’ of the classic Snow White story, Red Shoes And The Seven Dwarfs, the dwarves are cursed princess who must kiss the “most beautiful princess” to break their curse. On the movie’s poster revealed on the French Rivera festival last week, a slim Snow White is shown morphing into a curvier version over the tagline: “What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?”

Pippa’s Dress

The blinding white gown sported both a price tag of £40,000 and a long delicate train, and Pippa augmented it by wearing a tiara and custom made veil. Marrying James Matthews at St. Marks Church this past Saturday, Kate’s wedding, as all aspects of her life, has enjoyed public attention ever since her sister married Prince William six years ago.

Turning Back Time And Believing in Cher

And here we have been going on about making Katy Perry latex for her latest video, “Bon Appetit” (of which we are infinitely proud). But did you catch Cher at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards this Sunday past? Katy P., Rihanna, all our reigning pop divas would have to give a nod to Cher, who …

London Becomes Unleashed

We have reported before on the latex costumes, dance revelry, and the overall alternate vibe of Unleashed parties. This company is well known throughout our community for their one-of-a-kind meet-ups. On June 3rd another Unleashed international fetish dance event will take place…but for the first time, the fun will be unleashed on London.

Dawnamatrix Helps Katy Perry Wish You Bon Appétit

You might not think there is a connection between latex clothing and a full course meal, but Katy Perry sure does. In her new video “Bon Appétit” -the second single off of the pop diva’s upcoming 4th studio album-Katy not only wears latex couture, but she wears some Dawnamatrix latex couture!

The “Future of Fashion” at FIT

Judged by experts like Neiman Marcus’ Ken Downing, celebrity stylist Kemal Harris, “Today Show” contributor Lilliana Vazquez, even those who did not win presented the very best of the art of textile to the audience. Working off the theme of “Innovation” this year, students worked in two to three submission, under the guidance of industry mentors for a whole year. Then out of the two hundred designs submitted only seventy-nine make the cut for the Future of Fashion show.

Sans Pants Across The World

Conflicting accounts put the origins of this unusual communal occurrence at a Texas college campus decades ago when students decided to ‘drop trou’ in celebration of their end-of-the-year finals. Still, others put the blame on the Texas-based humor organization the Knighthood of BUH. Whoever is responsible for starting the tradition it seems to have originated in the Lone Star State and despite its humorous humble beginnings, NPD grew so much through the 90’s that it became a country-wide holiday by the beginning of the 21st century.

Dana Proctor sells Britney Spears

When it comes to our modern day pop divas, a latex skirt is just as important as a wardrobe fail, as is some costume becoming iconic. From stage, video, late-night clubbing a Katy Perry, a Nicki Minaj and Rihanna can be seen wearing any number of outfits fans drool over and unknown designers would have given anything to have made. Dana Proctor saw the value of Britney Spears’ outfits, as she came to collect seven Britney wardrobe pieces, pieces that she is now trying to sell on eBay for one million dollars.

After The Met Gala

This year’s theme for the Met Gala was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons,” celebrating the famous designer to be featured in this year’s Met museum exhibit. The last time the Met featured an exhibit at the museum focusing on a living designer was with Yves Saint Laurent …back in 1983. The Met Gala, what has been called by many “The East Coast Oscars,” marks the opening night of the museum’s exhibit, with the money from the party-tickets priced at what only celebrities could afford-gathered to keep the Met going.

McDonald’s Feeds The Evil Empire

If they would have only asked we could have easily suggested where some latex accessories might have been added to update the look. Or why not even outfit the out front counter help with a catsuit or two (guys and glas both)? It seems though that the McDonald’s Corp. simply went ahead enlisting the services of designers Waraire Boswell and Bindu Rivas to develop brand new uniforms for their workers. And those uniforms are now coming under a social media firestorm, least of all for their too-easy comparison to costume designs from villains in the Star Wars franchise.

Peter W. Czernich’s Dominatrix

As a top fetish photographer, and the man who began “Marquis,” Peter W. Czernich claims “shooting dominant women has been one of my specialties,” and Czernich shoots them in latex costumes, rubber clothing, leather, you name it. His latest (and fourth) photo book, Dominatrix debuts this summer and Czernich is currently running a Crowdfunding site for the completion of the book.

UNLEASHED Amsterdam Spring Event

As always at UNLEASHED events, there will be a top of the line sound system featured, pounding out the spins from DJ’s like Joyce Mercedes, Melissa Sneekes and Sofia Valentine, (to name but a few performing this time out). There will be performers on hand as well, with this time the 6-girl “Mad Pussy Gang,” featured to ‘unleash’ their pyro, juggling, dancing madness. Also, as always, UNLEASHED provides many different areas for people to come and party/meet in: dark out-of-the-way corners for canoodling, their big dance floor spaces to get one’s rave on, ‘chill out’ areas for partiers to snuggle close for simple conversations and handholding away from the mayhem.

Dawnamatrix collaborates with artist Lana Crooks for the World of Wearable Art competition

Dawnamatrix and sculptor and fiber artist Lana Crooks collaborated to make a dress for the upcoming World of Wearable Art competition in New Zealand. WOW® is a globally respected and renowned international design competition. Yearly it draws hundreds of entries from all over the world, awarding $165,000 in prize money, and internships with huge creative companies, like the Weta Workshop, known for their work on “The Lord Of The Rings” trilogy, among others films.

Rockin’ Billboard, Part 2

As much talking about musicians like Katy Perry and getting the call from stylist Andrew Richardson to create what has, to date, been one of our most seen creations, the inflatable skirt and “Skater Dress” for CoverGirl’s “Plumpify Mascara” commercial, Shira also delved deep into the Dawnamatrix story. I loved how her article focused on the topic of running a latex fashion business, not just on Katy Perry latex (which could be a whole article in itself, especially for a music magazine) or cosplay or any other mainstream latex placement.

Dawnamatrix and Billboard, A ‘Rockin’ Match-Part 1

Latex clothing and Billboard? Why not, we say. Writer Shira Karsen, the Lifestyle Editor for Billboard.com recognizes how the styles and material we so love are slipping ever further into the mainstream in her just published: “The Fashion Designer Bringing Latex From Cosplay to Katy Perry & Nicki Minaj: Exclusive”…an exclusive with, yours truly!

Finding Latex In Paris

Add to that intrigue DeMasK’s recent opening in the basement of Metamoprh’Ose/Phylea and anything is possible between Pomidou Center and Marsais presently.

Hillary In Leather

Culturally we’ve pretty much come to expect the black jacket turn from men. From Brando in “The Wild One,” to Elvis’ ’68 “Comeback Special” (dressed in head-to-toe black leather actually) to John Travolta’s T-Bird leader in Grease, the ubiquitous leather jacket has been recognized as male king-of-the-heap style. Yes, we did have Beyoncé wearing her Dsquared2 black leather jacket during her 2016 Super Bowl half-time show, but for a woman of such important feminist presence as Hillary Clinton sporting a leather jacket makes a statement indeed. And that the ex-First Lady chose these particular wardrobe choices at this specific conference made an even bigger impact around the web.

Megan Fox In Latex For Frederick’s of Hollywood

Pretty much a no-brainer match-made-in-heaven, Megan Fox is sporting latex couture in a new campaign for Frederick’s of Hollywood. In latex leggings and booty-bearing body suit, the mother-of-three star of Transformers shows pretty well how pretty well she wears our most favorite material. As the infamous sexy shop’s new Brand Ambassador and creative partner, Maxim’s ‘Earth’s hottest girl’ is perfect to show off these intimate pieces for Frederick’s lingerie spring 2017 campaign.

Blade Runner 2049 Kills at CinemaCon 2017

Sand, ‘duster’ coats, scary music, dystopian cities teaming with rain, Harrison Ford and maybe the hope to see some latex costumes: Blade Runner returns. The brand new trailer for Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to the 1982 film, is as much making the rounds online presently (see here), as it made fans scream at Cinemacon …

Nicki beats Aretha celebrates in latex

Following the progression of a super pop diva like Minaj one as much comes to listen to her changes, as see them. As the woman’s proportions seemingly progress with her music and style certainly Ms. Minaj seems to be lately wiggling well past any effect we might have enjoyed from Lady Gaga latex showings or even Katy Perry latex (though Perry has a new album about to hit, so who knows what wild styles she will be rocking soon.)

Dawnamatrix Dresses Bella Hadid and Liu Wen in CR Fashion Book # 10

We would have been proud to declare that Bella Hadid had worn one of our accessories in a photo shoot. Or that we happened to outfit Liu Wen for a strut down the runway. Or that we might even be getting a mention in the newest CR Fashion Book or to have said some of our wardrobe pieces appeared in a Mario Sorrenti shoot or that we got to work with stylist Carine Roitfeld. Any of those credits alone would have been enough for solid bragging rights. But in the latest CR Fashion Book, #10 to be exact, all of the above wishes have come true: Dawnamatrix Dresses Bella Hadid and Liu Wen in CR Fashion Book # 10, in a photo shoot by Mario Sorrenti shoot, styled by Carine Roitfeld!

Cosplay: The Show

Las Vegas creator and producer Pete Housley is giving the fashionista fans-in-waiting of his new 70-minute production Cosplay: The Show a way to be part of the show. Currently flirting for a location in two major showrooms on the infamous ‘strip,’ this production will feature performers as well as a copious count of costumes, with sets and props all celebrating our supreme dress-up desire.

Teaming up with estate seller Everything But the House, Lucci has some items starting at a price of only one dollar and the action, which runs until March 10th, will donate a portion of Lucci’s sale to United Cerebral Palsy of New York City (her grandson is afflicted with the disease). Included in the collection being offered are outfits Susan Lucci has worn on set, as well as pieces she has shown off at various events, plenty of which she told ET, “have been photographed on red carpets.”

Mariah Carey says “I Don’t” and Let’s It Burn

We don’t recommend Dawnamatrix customers throw one of our latex wedding gowns into a fire pit, but Mariah can pretty much do what she wants and still come through it as the diva she has always been.

Making A Monster Out Of A Midriff

There can be many reasons why a lady or man would dress in what the mainstream would think provocative, sexy, alternative …use the term you like. But in advertising, as was certainly Monster’s motivation, it’s obvious that a comely lady dressed provocatively turns eyes to whatever product that lady might be showing off or supporting. And given the fact that a large percentage of NASCAR viewers are male, Monster knew-and were counting on-their “Energy Girls” getting long looks.

Dawnamatrix In Los Pazos

For us it’s not always just about latex clothing, high fashion alternative models, talented photographers or runways. Sometimes it’s where we find our wares, in lush locations, in faraway surreal landscapes or even busy streets bustling with nightlife and attitude that brings a thrill. In this recent posting: https://www.cnn.com/2017/02/21/architecture/mexican-jungle-architecture-art/index.html of an article that first appeared …
