Tokyo, New Zealand, America: Global Latex Trotting

I’m heading to Tokyo in the next weeks for some fresh inspiration on our latex couture…and life. We’re ready to soak in the Harajuku and cosplay culture, and, as they have in the past, the plum blossoms of early spring will surely greet us with their startling and colorful beauty. Stay tuned for some pictures from this journey. It really is fun to get out and about for some more global latex trotting.

In the meantime, in another spot far from the Dawnamatrix offices, we just received a new round of pictures from our winning WOW entry on display at the World of WearableArt Museum in Nelson, New Zealand. We visited the museum while in NZ for WOW last year, and can report the place presents a truly world-class display. Lady Ethereal (our award-winning garment from 2018) was on display at the time, and it was a treat to visit her in such wonderfully exhibited glory. WOW participants and fans from all over the world make the pilgrimage to the museum and its displays. What WOW puts together in that building is an inspiring closure to their season, and our memory was especially tickled to see the pieces we worked so hard on up close in this setting. With 2020 upon us, the winning entries (and we won again, three years running now, so our wardrobe pieces from the last show are in the museum) are on display now.

We’re furiously working on our 2020 WOW entries presently, due at the end of March. Judging is done in the summer in the states (winter in NZ), and if we pass the finalist stage, the entries must remain under wraps until the September opening show.

But, as always, we will keep you abreast of what we can every step of the way we can reveal it.

Whether we are visiting Japan for inspiration, coming to an event in some European city, fitting models to walk a red carpet at a fashion show or opening, or competing in WOW, there really us something so heartening to be able to consider the work we do in global sense.
