Megan Thee Stallion’s Non-Stop Latex Assault

Latex lovers have so much to thank our modern-day divas for. We’ve been reporting for quite a few years how Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Katy Perry have been rockin’ latex couture (sometimes wearing Dawnamatrix latex pieces) seemingly every time they step out.

2020 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS FASHION: INSIDE AND OUT

o matter if we saw latex jumpsuits, leather-and-lace combinations, or lingerie worn as an accessory, we all knew this year’s VMA’s would be different than any in the show’s three-decade history. Playing across our TVs, tablets, and other streaming devices, the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards came at us all last Sunday night, socially distanced as we all knew it had to be, but still as colorful and wild as ever, inside and out.

Trying to Hold On To Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion is a performer who’s been wowing us all with her wardrobe choices of late, from latex, to leather, to lingerie. Always working her curves into stunning alternative looks and sexy styles, on the most recent episode of HBO Max’s “Legendary,” the 25-year old singer, actually ‘upped’ her A-game. For the H.B.O. Max …

The Very ‘FashionAble’ Animal Crossing: New Horizons

With our attention on latex fashions and alternative wardrobe styles, we’re often reporting on stories about movies, celebrities, and music. Seemingly every day, there comes an Instagram picture of a Kardashian rocking some cool new outfit or a ‘dropped’ video featuring some luscious fetish look. And even though the latest spate of superhero movies might …

Chloe x Halle Certainly Know How To Rock Their Latex

Talk about salivating over latex couture! We dare you to happen round the new Chloe x Halle video “Forgive Me,” and not have to catch your collective, alternative fashionista breath. The Hailey sisters dropped their super-hot, super-costume-cool video last week, coinciding with the release of their latest album, Ungodly Hour. As much a statement of female …

Astrid Kallsen & Noel Nichols Go All Urbex Butterfly For Us.

It’s good for a designer to reexamine a piece from time to time, in our case, one of our classic latex outfits. As you see from the pictures here, we have these wonderful pictures from a photoshoot featuring the stunning model Astrid Kallsen wearing the various pieces of our Dawnamatrix Butterfly Collection, in pictures taken …

Getting Intimate Over “Intimate Apparel”

It’s not often when reporting on news about or championing latex apparel that we get to blog about a play. Sure, there have been the odd cosplay musical, and plenty of burlesque performances feature wonderful wardrobe pieces (sometimes they even feature latex couture) but generally we don’t get to gush very often over a theatrical …

Valentine’s Day 2020

Here we go ‘round once more with roses, candy, and red latex lingerie. Valentine’s Day 2020 is upon us, and once again, we want to send out all the very best (and some naughty) wishes that everyone gets to enjoy the holiday the way they most wish to. And with the person, they most wish …

Part 4: The New Year (and DEcade) @ Dawnamatrix

In the last few blogs we gave forth, on what passed by us in 2019 and during the past decade, in latex design and fashion culture, in general. It’s certainly a matter of personal conjecture what will hit, what will die, what will circle round again, and what might be coming for the future in …

Lady Gaga Truly Is An Enigma…In Las Vegas

Through her ascendancy in the rock-pop world, a well-publicized duet to legitimacy with Tony Bennett, a scary turn in “American Horror Story: Hotel,” her possible Oscar nod in a A Star Is Born and now her Enigma show in Las Vegas, really, is there any stopping Lady Gaga?

Bella Thorne Has Got You Covered

In the last blog, we mentioned red Santa-inspired latex you might see your favorite gift-giver wearing or even a fellow partier wiggle into this time of year. Well, Bella Thorne made all of our holiday alt. couture wishes a reality. The supermodel posted a video and pics on Instagram just this week showing herself in …

Riding Over Controversy With Jennifer Lawrence and Dior

In the case of this new Dior campaign though whether this was conscious culture robbing (one tends to doubt) or Lawrence and Dior fall into the category of actual appropriation, it comes as no surprise, at the very least, that the fashion designer would use Jennifer Lawrence. She has been the face of the brand now for six years.

Happy Holidays and Couture Costume Updates with Jesus Christ Superstar Live!

Starring John Legend in the title role, Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene and rock legend Alice Cooper as King Herod, the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice 1970 rock opera is being updated particularly by Paul Tazewell’s costume designs. This is the man who won a Tony for Hamilton just recently.

Dawnamatrix Rising

In an interview by Abby Luschei, in a piece called “The Rising Of Dawn”, I give forth on all I can about the specific sexy haute couture I make and how I first came to make it. We as much cover how one can spice up their wardrobe, tackle the concept of what fetish fashion is and get into my studying kimono fashions when I lived and taught in Japan. Being a Seattle-based magazine, Abby also got my take on living and working here in the great Northwest of the U.S.

Charles Guyette comin’ round again

The time is always right for us to appreciate anyone who contributed to the culture in such a unique, and shall we say, fashionable way. Surely what was considered fetish wardrobe way back when isn’t any longer and these days stylists as well as photographers are getting their due. But to be working in such specific costuming in the 40’s and 50’s, when one could get arrested (Guyette did indeed get arrested) for publishing photographs of women in these specific clothes, is a story all its own…and one that Seves tells, once again, in the 2nd edition of his book.

2018 Latex Predictions-Part 2

Then too we have to assume that our best and brightest celebrities, whether they be musicians, models or reality stars, will continue to push their own level of branding as well as stepping-out style. And there too we will see innovations, as we will stutter steps, as truly marvelous wardrobes rise like cream to the top of our cultural coffee brew. How much of this couture will be made of latex?

Peter W. Czernich’s Unleashes His Beauties

Once again gorgeous ladies, latex couture and lots of other alternate wardrobe is on display as seen through the eye of Peter W. Czernich. In his “Fetish Beauties” photo exhibition, the man known as the brains behind Marquis Magazine, is presenting his unique prints and books at the Etienne’s Art Galerie in Luxemburg at the end of September.

Life Is Good for Shania Twain’s Couture Choices

As a homage to Robert Palmer’s “Addicted To Love” video, one might recall Shania in first top hat and long coat, with a bevy of beefy guys playing instruments behind her, then later revealing the iconic sexy corset/mini skirt look. Shania returns, albeit briefly, in some of that wardrobe in her brand new video, “Life’s About to Get Good” for the lead off single from her soon-to-be-released album, Now.

Sans Pants Across The World

Conflicting accounts put the origins of this unusual communal occurrence at a Texas college campus decades ago when students decided to ‘drop trou’ in celebration of their end-of-the-year finals. Still, others put the blame on the Texas-based humor organization the Knighthood of BUH. Whoever is responsible for starting the tradition it seems to have originated in the Lone Star State and despite its humorous humble beginnings, NPD grew so much through the 90’s that it became a country-wide holiday by the beginning of the 21st century.

Making A Monster Out Of A Midriff

There can be many reasons why a lady or man would dress in what the mainstream would think provocative, sexy, alternative …use the term you like. But in advertising, as was certainly Monster’s motivation, it’s obvious that a comely lady dressed provocatively turns eyes to whatever product that lady might be showing off or supporting. And given the fact that a large percentage of NASCAR viewers are male, Monster knew-and were counting on-their “Energy Girls” getting long looks.

Kaley Cuoco, Riding Crops, Fishnets and a Bared Breast

What Cuoco has and hasn’t been wearing has made quite a bit of news of late. She infamously bared her breast (with a heart emoji discreetly covering most of it) in a Snapchat pic that just went viral. This latest sexy turn on the super popular sitcom certainly adds to the fascination fans of all stripes have for Kaley Cuoco (a few years back the net went wild when she decided to change her hair’s length and style for the show).

The Dressmaker

Australian audiences fell hard for this movie last fall. The Dressmaker hit the #1 spot at the ‘down under’ box office, earning $14.4 million in total and grabbed five wins at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. One of these awards went to Winslet winning for best lead actress.

From Comic To Screen with Stuart Urban

In 2013 Preaching To The Perverted enjoyed a revival three years ago when a Kickstarter campaign produced a high def version of the movie, so Urban knows the power of kickstarter for sure. He also knows to offer Tortured In The Orchard in all forms, digital, paperback and hardcover contingent upon a kickstarter contributor’s monetary commitment.

Kim Kardashian Is Not There

Just this week in New York City Kim was seen stepping around town in a see-thru bra, a PABLO denim jacket-coming from her husband’s current tour/album swag- and transparent plastic high heel boots from his just revealed “Yeezy 4” collection. (Kanye just gave a big show at Roosevelt Park in New York City during New York Fashion Week to launch that collection.)

Fox’s Rocky Horror Reboot

The Fox film opens as a movie inside a movie, with an audience reacting to all the Rocky tropes watching the The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This time around the cast includes Victoria Justice, Ryan McCartan, Reeve Carney, Christina Milian, Annaleigh Ashford, Staz Nair, Adam Lambert, and Ben Vereen joining Cox and Curry. Wild cinema wardrobe seems to include metal studded black leather jackets, red corsets and speedos, so we might very well be on the right track for this remake (original Rocky duds have populated many a museum exhibit) become Rock impresario Lou Adler, produce of the original film as well as responsible for bringing the original U.K stage show to L.A., is coproducing this time around, with Kenny Ortega choreographing and directing. The men claim they will be staying true to Richard O’Brien and Jim Sharman’s original songs and script.

Battling Ageism in Fashion One Big Bushy Beard At A Time

We have seen celebrities and models like Lauren Hutten or a Helen Mirren fight ageism with recent fashion and accessory modeling campaigns. And certainly body image paradigms are being fought all the time (just this past year Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue featured not only featured its first plus size model on a cover-Ashley Graha-and another curvy lady, Nicola Griffin, who is 56 years old.)

Accessorizing Your Latex Look

A little clutch might make more of the statement you are looking for then a big purse (plus be easier to carry). Yes, that hood might just be perfect for that outfit, but do you need the tail as well (surely, we will sell you both!) Or have you the tail, do you need the goggles, or if you have the goggles need you the…you get the point. Don’t overburden your wardrobe with too many extras, or if you do have the sensibilities to overdo the accessories, then pile them on as tastefully as you can so they don’t clash…unless you are looking for a bold statement of clashing that no one is soon to forget.

The Future Is Not ‘Exactly’ Now @ The 2016 Met Gala…But Miss Bey Was In Latex!

ABC-TV news announcers wondered over Beyoncé latex gown and how she kept cool in it, as Miss Bey topped the dressers at the Met Gala at the beginning of the week. With co-host Taylor Swift “Goin’ Goth” in mostly black thigh-high strappy sandals and a silver mini and Zayn Malik sporting silvery faux robot arms, lots of celebs were attempting dress to the “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” theme of the night. While others, notably Beyoncé, went her own way…in a stunning latex fashion design.

London Reveals What’s Under It All

The UK’s Victoria and Albert Museum seems to think lingerie is important just as we do. They are devoting their new Undressed: A Brief History Of Underwear exhibit to a semi-chronological, heavily-themed display of unmentionables for the next year. In sections titled “Health and Hygiene” “Performance Underwear; and Support: Bras and Girdles” and many others, this very famous London museum’s attendees get to enjoy a multi-floor exploration of undergarment fashions and body image concerns of the past (and really, nothing reveals how we feel about our bodies then what we make to wear so very close to them). Dress designers and ‘reformers’ are highlighted as well as the inventors and innovators who played a role in the furthering of designs that increased our comfort and the durability of our undergarments through the decades.

Musicians Make New York Fashion Week 2016 ‘Alternative’?

New York Fashion Week, as is true of Mila, London, Paris, is not about presenting the latest in latex corsets, challenging the status quo with a fetish model strutting down the runway, and certainly pushes celebrity sightings now more than high couture. An though we can’t expect to find our next bespoke naughty outfit in any of these fashion weeks, still each year we do dream that just maybe a old school designer, or maybe even a Kanye or a RiRi might try something slightly daring…and of course affordable.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Is A Hot Topic

We all know Victorian-era clothing is just perfect for dress-up possibilities and seeing as Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2009 parody story mashed-up Jane Austin with flesh eaters, we get comely lasses in lace and petticoats dispatching monsters across a blood-soaked English countryside. But what the ladies of the time wear under their outfits is what most interests Hot Topic here, as they have managed to produce a new line of unmentionables for fans of the movie…or just ladies who wish some extra special dressing-up under their everyday wardrobes.

Dawnamatrix, Katy Perry and U.S. Vogue

Our excitement over Katy Perry wearing out latex couture in the new Covergirl “Plumpify” Mascara commercial continues. We have just learned that a print add from the commercial-showing Dawnamatrix couture-has appeared in a two-page spread in the January 2016 issue of U.S. Vogue.

Dawnamatrix Inflates Katy Perry For Covergirl’s “Plumpify”

We were contacted by stylist Andrew Richardson over the summer to create a larger-than-life look for the “Fireworks” singer, pieces as sexy as they were unusual, for a Covergirl “Plumpify Mascara” commercial. Dressing a woman known for her outrageous and innovative fantasy costume designs, someone who can straddle both the sexy and the silly, a pop star of infinite different looks and persona, we knew we had to bring the very best to this assignment and take the word “Plumpify” to a whole new level.

Celebrating Our Styles With The Rocky Horror Picture Show, 40 Year Strong

Latex gloves, corsets, heels and fishnets…no, it’s not a weekend fetish party we are premiering a new collection at, it’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show. King of midnight movie showings, from stage musical to iconic ‘failed’ Hollywood release, one of the most talked about and certainly one of the most talked ‘at’ movies of all time, TRHPS turned 40 this year and there were much ballyhooed ‘reunions’ of certain cast members-Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn, and Meatloaf-for photo shoots and sit down interviews in this Halloween season.
