Getting Personal With Photographer Paul Allan

Finally we got to work with the man in person, as Paul was recently visiting Seattle. Here we not only got to meet Paul Allan, which was a thrill in and of itself, but also we had the opportunity to work alongside him, styling our garments during his shooting.

With a wonderful local Seattle team, we all created magic. Our model Jessica Mion was a delight, working so very hard (but making it seem so effortless) to give us exactly what we wanted. Kat Trotter-Viterbo lent her amazing talents to hair and Elenna Loredana to MUA. And Paul captured it all through his lens.

A little forward in time (October actually) will see both the one day Erotic Ball 2015 and the London Fetish Weekend. Zoolander 2

It’s not every day the fashion world gets such a comedic intentioned send-up, but it very much did in the 2001 comedy classic Zoolander…and will again when Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson reprise their model adversary roles in “Zoolander 2.” The film’s teaser trailer hit this week-see here-and it is pretty much a hoot…as we all assumed it would be. Ben Stiller’s pucker and that voice he adopts for the character alone make the trailer hilarious.

In other fashion mishap related news, Lululemon is recalling over three hundred thousand of their women’s tops. It seems the draw cords of the tops-elastic cords with metal or plastic hard ends-have injured enough wearers’ faces and eyes, or became caught on something they have passed…and then snapped back, to cause the recall.

Two years ago Lululemon Athletica Inc. had to recall yoga pants after complaints that the material used in their construction was either too sheer or ‘pilling” and/or splitting at the seams.

The Richard, the only featured male model this time around in the magazine (a horror movie/alt.model/rock and roll scene-ster Canadian native) who exemplifies the move-theme of this Von Gutenberg issue, and actually models for us in our online catalogu, shows-off his powerfully built bod in our Damask Vest, Men’s Galaxy Zip Tank, Plug Style Catsuit and Straight Leg Trousers.

Dawnamatrix ‘Flutters By’ In Beau-Nu’s May 2015 “Creative” Issue.

Not only does Lorraine look perfect in our latex and are Mia’s pictures arresting (the two recently worked together here showcasing other Dawnamatrix butterfly pieces) but the setting in these shots, and the delicate posing of Lorraine instantly reminds one of those infamous Cottingley Fairie pictures (seen to the right here). Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths might have fooled quite a bit of folks back in early 20th century England (in the end it was reasoned but never conclusively proved that the cousins posed with cutout fairie pictures) including the famous Arthur Conan Doyle, but in these Beau-Nu shots there is no mistaking model and photographer working so very hard to present magic of a high order indeed!

Launched in October of 2011, Dark Parlour Magazine features a dizzying display of alternative couture models and clothing, photographers, writers, musicians, designers-truly artists of all kinds-between its pages. The colorful magazine boasts a global reach, with a focus on the Canadian alternative scene especially. In this age of the “print is dead” battle cry it is heartening indeed to find a magazine like Dark Parlour alive and well and publishing such provocative-and “alternative” “fetish” “fantasy”-stuff.

Director/editor/producer here, Patricia Chica uses the wonderful talents of cinematographer Martin Bouchard DOP to the fore at both inside and outside locations in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, to make this 8th video of Kelly’s really something special. Chica is well known for her creative documentaries of often alternative subjects and in this video you see her creativity taking hold. In fact, as is made clear in an anecdote written in the notes of the video, a huge dragonfly just happened to light on both Kelly and her costar and Chica decided to use the happy accident to make a most delicious scene.

Space & Time Butterflies Fly Over To Germany To Flutter Across The Lush World Of Posh Fairytale Couture

As you well know our Dawnamatrix Space & Time butterflies have fluttered across the runaway at Montreal Fetish Weekend, sailed to great heights buoyed from applause at the Latex & Lace Winter Fashion Show; just recently they flew across to Germany. More Of Dawnamatrix In Japan

In our first blog about our recent trip to Japan we elaborated on a surprise adventure we experienced when entering the country. But there was more to our visit then just team Dawnamatrix being filmed for the T.V. show “Why did you come to Japan? 「Youは何し日本へ？」” . In fact, in what we wrote in our last blog, we stumbled into that show appearance but the real reason we came to Japan this time was to attend the wedding of our friend Masakazu (the groom) to Mayu (his bride.)

Heidi Klum Spreads Her Butterfly Wings

Klum’s annual bash, this year presented at Tao Nightclub on Halloween night, is a must-be-seen-scene. Completely covering herself in blue and green, Klum sported an impressive semi-opaque wing span and antennas for this once-a-year bash that always seems to make the big blogs’ lists. And while 2014’s All Hallows saw Kim Kardashian sporting a body suit with a skeleton design rendered across it (reminding us of our own Cthulhu Catsuit), Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady headed out with their kids as a dragon family and Katy Pery managed to step out as a rather unimpressive Cheeto®, when it comes to celebs dressing as butterflies this year we were particularly interested. Butterfly’s lighted on our new Space and Time Collection, represented in a new bodysuit, corset, skirt and vest. It’s a style that interests more than just supermodels for Halloween.

Miley Cyrus & Bondage Chic

Miley is a young woman seemingly hell bent on twerking her way to a Disney disconnect. We have all seen her consistent Instagram posts, her provocative (and very ‘stripped down’) videos and live performances, but this week the 21 year old singer sported a Tom Ford-designed creation of sheer top with crisscross sequin straps just covering her breasts and a long black skirt. Fashion fans and critics jumped on the look, describing the outfit as ‘bondage inspired’ (as if even any of us know what that means really) and Miley got tons of mileage from the pics of her at the event.
We have strategically strapped halters, revealing cleavage tops, and a goodly amount of sheer and transparent panels (see here , here and here) but we dare think that the fetish/kink/whatever-inspired seems to be is in the eye of the wearer when it comes to mainstream couture. Interestingly enough, at this same gala, fetish model queen Dita Von Teese was sporting a simple satin head-to-toe length satin gown with no hint of any alternative wardrob-ing. How’s that for fashion irony?

Dawnamatrix Premieres New Line Once Again At Montreal Fetish Weekend 2014

The new line’s name will be revealed in a few weeks and the actual line released Saturday 8/30 at our runway appearance at MFW. And as have we’ve done now for four years, we will also be collaborating with international models and photographers on photo shoots and participating in the Fetish Photo Walk, an organized stroll around Montreal that sees hundreds of the weekend’s attendees enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of Montreal. The residents of Montreal are very welcoming and curious so the walk, as is the entire weekend, is a very positive fun experience.

Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour

If you caught NBC’s airing of the “Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour,” on this past Sunday night of the July4th weekend count yourself as one of a small few. The show, two hours of live footage from the controversial twerkers present tour from Spain and Portugal drew a mere 2 million. That sounds like a lot of viewers but seeing as this weekend in the U.S. was one for repeats because of the holiday Miley’s show was the lowest rated, least watched program of the night across American TV sets.
