One could pine for the shows of old, genial hosts telling silly running jokes, and over-the-top over-long musical number, maybe a music star wearing some lace or latex couture, but the 2021 Academy Awards wasn’t anything like shows of old.
2021 GRammy’s Couture
The NCOSE said that Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s performance of “WAP” at the Grammy’s “….could have been cut from a hardcore pornography film” and also “…contributed to the sexual exploitation of women by glamorizing prostitution and stripping.” Maybe they didn’t like the huge stiletto on stage or the bed, or what Cardi and Mega Thee Stallion did on that bed.
Got To Go To, Immersive van Gogh
Created by Italian digital artist Massimiliano Siccardi, Immersive van Gogh employees 60,600 frames of video, 90,000,000 pixels, and 500,000 cubic feet of projections. Attendees enjoy an hour of projections and digital installations of iconic works like Starry Night, Sunflowers, and The Bedroom. The digital animations included feature original songs by Italian composer Luca Longobardi. and VIP ticket holders can experience an additional ten-minute virtual reality section of the exhibition, what is being called ‘a day in van Gogh’s life.’

Celebrating David Bowie for what would have been his 74th birthday, Trent Reznor, of NIN fame (a rabid Bowie fan), participated with a bunch of other notables in the “A David Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day!” A clip from that show of Reznor, Atticus Ross, the Bowie alumni band (Mike Garson, Carlos Alomar, Gery Leonard, Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell and Catherine Russell) and Reznor’s wife Maandig Reznor recreating Bowie’s song “Fashion,” was ‘dropped’ at the beginning of this week.
