Being a huge proponent of the various Vogue magazines around the world, as well as seeing quite a bit of our latex couture featured on models in those magazines, when a story about Vogue appears across the web we certainly take a gander. This week there was quite the controversy brewing over Kim Kardashian and Vogue India.
What was of notice to some, and certainly to us at Dawnamatrix given our penchant for (and selling of) such accessories, were the masks models were wearing down the runway. Stephen Jones created stunning seeming face extensions for models wearing Maria Grazia Chiuri designs. Certainly the masks were perfect for this type of gathering and in some circles, people were talking about them as much as they were Bella Hadid’s display.
In the previous teasers and posted snapped shots from the production of the upcoming Ocean’s 8 movie, we have seen so much fashion. Not simply cinema wardrobe but the band of merry (all women) thieves in this movie are fashionably appointed and the plot is set right in the middle of the fashion universe; the ladies manage their main heist at the Met Gala. As reported so far, the haute couture cameos in this movie are plenty. Kim Kardashian was spotted on set wearing a sheer white Givenchy, her sister Kendall Jenner in Elie Saab, Kylie Jenner in a velour tracksuit, and Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Anna Wintour all set to make appearances as well.
From their Kendall + Kylie clothing collection, the famous Jenner sisters attempted to release what they were calling “vintage” music t-shirts this week. The ladies took to superimposing their K&K logo or their faces (and in some cases, bikini shots) over classic album cover art and music star images. Using pictures from The Notorious B.I.G., Metallica, Led Zeppelin and many more, the sisters received a huge backlash this week when they revealed their latest attempt at hip haute couture across Instagram.
This year’s theme for the Met Gala was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons,” celebrating the famous designer to be featured in this year’s Met museum exhibit. The last time the Met featured an exhibit at the museum focusing on a living designer was with Yves Saint Laurent …back in 1983. The Met Gala, what has been called by many “The East Coast Oscars,” marks the opening night of the museum’s exhibit, with the money from the party-tickets priced at what only celebrities could afford-gathered to keep the Met going.
This spin-off film is said to follow a group of female robbers who hit the infamous fashion night and make away with millions in jewels. Surely these most famous Instagram stars, Kim Kardashian West and Kendall Jenner appear in the movie in cameo’s (this will actually mark Jenner’s first appearance in a film), still where Kanye’s wife is concerned, is even fictional jewel thievery a little too much art imitating life?
Yes, the upcoming Pirelli calendar is getting lots of press-and the women posing in that famous Italian fashion export are not even nude this year or even wearing latex outfits-it’ the annual LOVE Magazine Advent calendar that seems to be earning the most attention for its salacious content. With their pictures and videos of scantily clad celeb ladies rounding out their month of days, we see lots of high-waisted panties and bra sets, dangling garters (or those attached to stockings) model Zendaya going way out in a 2001: A Space Odyssey homage and Pamela Anderson (the last woman to appear completely nude in “Playbo0y” magazine actually) in classic black 50’s lingerie. Kendall Jenner even walks through video fire in her own stocking and garter set while wearing various fur coats.
Other facts as they are becoming known are Lily Aldridge will be wearing the ultimate in costume design, the Fireworks Fantasy Bra, this year’s big ticket item priced at $2 million. That bra’s precious gems come in at a cool 1,364 carats and are set in 18 karat gold, the panties Lily will wear with it, sport 120 diamonds and 400 stones. Created by jeweler Mouawad you can see Aldridge cavorting in the set in this Vogue video.
Certainly, we see latex clothing pushing ever stronger into the mainstream these days. Phenomena like Fifty Shades Of Grey or even the latest outfit Kendall Jenner might be wearing gives alternate concerns/and couture ever greater attention…and as San Diego Comic-Con grows ever closer the world will be yet again get some good eye-candy view of hard working cosplayers (and we have just the jacket for it https://dawnamatrix.com/shop/steampunk/gunslinger-jacket-2/). But for the most part ours is still a small community of folks, albeit a global one to be sure, who enjoy wearing latex clothing and attending events to show off and play. When one of our own closes shop, as Germany’s Marquis Magazine is, we all feel the repercussions.
Colorful and cute, you say (and yes, we are down with flowers adorning dresses, see here…) surely, but some folks take the flowers to be a statement of support for the Sunflower Student Movement (this is a group of students who have taken to protesting a trade deal between Taiwan and China). Katy has been sporting sunflowers in her Prismatic tour since it began and she did not comment about what she may-or may not have-meant wearing her dress and cape.
No one is going to label Kris or Kendall Jenner world class dancers, but dance they try to, in sexy black Philip Plein pieces, for LOVE Magazine’s Advent Calendar. Kendall cavorts in black bra, stockings and high waist panties (see our basic one here) while her mom wears a black suit jacket over tights (which she adds a skirt to in another scene in the video later.) The women shimmy with antlers on their heads in one set-up but mostly they set about destroying a pink Christmas tree.
Kendall posed nude on sister Kourtney’s Instagram this week. Kendall who has modeled for Marc Jacobs and Chanel (to name a few) has bared herself previously for “Interview” and “Love” mags. And let’s not forget how much of her sisters (half and whole) we have seen…Kim K. just recently posed nude for “GQ UK.”
