Some Non-Dawnamatrix 2014 VMA Fashions

Yes, more happened at the VMA’s on Sunday night then just Beyoncé’s dancers wearing Dawnamatrix outfits. The very next night actually saw the Emmy award show telecast and to be sure there were some ladies there rocking some amazing couture (a much older crowd, the order of the day seems to be gowns, where anything seems to go with the VMA hip hop hop hop hop-ier set.) We thought it might be good to take a last look at the fashions from the 2o14 VMA’s

Beyoncé & Dawnamatrix at the VMA's, The After Show P.R.

Serofonte called Dawnamatrix and ordered 68 garments in total for the Beyoncé’s VMA outing, including garter belts and stockings, vintage bra and panty girdle sets, all made of high grade latex. Having previously been commissioned by Covergirl to make pieces for Pink and Katy Perry, Dawnamatrix is no stranger to working with pop stars or supplying outfitsand accessories to award shows. This order for Beyoncé’s performance was the culmination of five years of hard work the Boston-based alternate fashion company has been putting into their brand.

Dawnamatrix and Beyoncé at the 2014 VMA’s: Perfect Together

Beyoncé’s stylist, Marni Serofonte just ordered 71 garments from us for Miss Bey’s 16 dancers for Sunday’s VMA’s! We’re deep in the work zone as you can no doubt expect (and with our new line coming out at the end of the month at Montreal Fetish Weekend, plus regular customer orders we were pretty busy to begin with) but to say we are thrilled with this honor would be the understatement of the summer. We have worked with pop divas before. Pink and Katy Perry instantly come to mind, and we have had our designs on hand for big events, from fashion shows to music award ceremonies but the VMA’s is pretty much an alternative fashion designer’s dream. And getting our latex unmentionables this close to a star of Beyoncé’s caliber is absolutely thrilling.

Paul Allan Shoots Tina Mari For The New Dawnamatrix Line

Paul Allan is currently shooting model Tina Mari (with HMUA being done by Ashley Novak) for our new line. Tina Mari is a Playboy Miss Social Contest Winner and a pro of the highest order who we have used before (see her CCG page here). Here all her appearances previously in our catalog.

Celebs In Costume At Comic-Con

There was Daniel Radcliffe dressed as Spider-Man, not hiding from Voldemort but more from fans. Peter Jackson was a scary black-and-white jester (he posted some Facebook pics of himself following someone wearing “The Hobbit” T-shirt) and Jack Black went as a storm trooper claiming he simply wanted to be left alone to buy action figures. Game of Thrones Maisie Williams sported a Guy Fawkes mask on the floor then later at a party wore a Ryan Jude Novelline dress made of graphic novel pages. She’s worn this dress before, but it was no less impressive her second time out.

The Dreaded BBCP: Bridesmaid Butt Cheek Pics

These days it seems bride’s maids can’t even wait to get a little tipsy for the ubiquitous turn at inappropriate post-ceremony making-out. The ladies are seemingly beating us all to the punch now with the latest trend (ing) phenomena: bridemaids’ butt cheek pictures.

National Emergency: Kendall Jenner Shows Her Hip Bones At MuchMusic Video Awards!

Not that the young woman and her family haven’t enjoyed copious amounts of press already but Kendall Jenner really wowed them all at Sunday night’s MuchMusic Video Awards. Co-hosting with her little sister Kylie Kendall sported a Fausto Puglisi long-sleeve gown with sky-high slide slits open all the way up her expanse of pretty leg, …

Art In America: Julia Reidhead's ‘Starry Night’ Prom Dress

Julia is an 18 year-old high school senior who was simply not content with the prom dress possibilities presented her. With her mom the Arizona young woman purchased a “used” wedding dress (for the pricey sum of $40) and then actually painted upon that dress-painted mind you!-a recreation of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night.

Dawnamatrix Celebrates Bunny Yeager

There is no way we could do what we do here at Dawnamatrix without the groundbreaking work women like Bunny Yeager did for fashion, photography and the general exploration and consideration of the full rich possibilities of the nude female form as art. Fantasy-based fashion, sexy costume-ry, fetish iconography all were birthed from the pictures, attitude and daring of ladies like Bettie Page and Bunny Yeager (have you seen the Katy Perry/Madonna ‘Power of Pop’ photos in the June issue of “V” magazine…talk about being influenced!) We as much recognize a talent like Bunny Yeager as we are inspired by her, even more so impressive considering that this lady worked in a time when the types of photographs she took could be, and often were, sited as pornographic and therefore against the law.

Getting’ Maleficent-ied

We’ve covered Maleficent previously-don’t worry nobody is that scatterbrained round the Dawnamatrix offices that we forget what we write about-but the film’s early popularity seems to be about more than just some cool costuming and effects. Sure Angelina Jolie is a certified superstar and literally inhabits the role of the pure-hearted young lady who grows into an evil forest queen but beyond the $70 million opening it seems the world at large is getting Maleficent-fied.

Beyond the action figures that get launched on the public with a movie of this sort, Este

Team Dawnamatrix Does Boston’s Pop Culture Expo

From Games of Thrones’ Kristian Nairn D.J.ing, to stepping in Dr. Who’s TARDIS, to passing by the likes of Rae Dawn Chong and Parker Stevenson, Team Dawnamatrix made the scene down at Boston’s Pop Culture Expo last week. Certainly a smaller gathering of the faithful and costumed then say Comic Con, still this event at …

Come to the Kimono: The Dawnamatrix Specialty, on Display In Our Store and in Exhibits.

Our main designer/CEO Dawn lived for many years in Japan and studied Kimono design and wear. To say her study and love of the culture and the unique history- rich garment seeped into her artistry would be an understatement. With this background it is no surprise that after the terrible tsunami of 2011 we held a fundraiser for Japan, managed a kimono performance at the Boston Children’s museum, continue to place our pieces in exhibits and create new Kimono designs all the time.
