Miami Swim Week, the New Wonder Woman Is a Wonder While Target Is Not and the Passing of Elio Fiorucci

thAnd here you thought only latex clothing, leather undies and PVC accessories got a mention with us. This week-as is true every week really-a bunch of culture couture news hit the net…and we are here to tell the tale.

First and foremost, Dawnamatrix would like to recognize Italian fashion designer Elio Fiorucci, who died at the age of 80 in Milan this week. Fiorucci truly became the high-water mark design trendsetter in the 70’s, producing everything from jeans to lighting fixtures to furniture. His infamous store locations were regarded as artist hangouts, so much so that Andy Warhol chose the Fiorucci shop window to launch Interview Magazine in 1976.

On the other end of the fashion spectrum, it seems Target is being taken to task over their women’s “Trophy” tee. The mega retail chain sells various T-shirts as part of their engagement and wedding collection (wherein our bridal collection includes any number of latex creations for your special day) that display words like: “Team Bride” “Mrs.” and “Bride”; the “Trophy” tee was just another in that line.TargetStoreExterior2013_45a6cf54-d77b-48dc-b947-69e450f5e25b-prv

Answering a petition currently making news at change.org Target released a statement via ABC News that said, in part “These shirts are intended as a fun wink and we have received an overwhelmingly positive response from our guests.”

As summer winds down and super hero movies are making their last stab at the season, we shouldn’t forget that next year the first modern movie version of Wonder Woman will be seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The new lady to take charge of The Lasso Of Truth and those cool bullet repelling bracelets, Gal Gadot is showing off lots of herself in the current issue of Interview Magazine. In just bra, underwear and stockings the new W.W. lounges quite ‘wonderfully’ in a hammock. And as you can expect there are as many people who appreciate the long-limb ex-Miss Israel’s form, as those who think she is showing too much of herself.

And so it goes.

Lastly…even though they were without their usual sponsor IMG, Miami Swim Week went off pretty much without a hitch. Mara Hoffman and Mikoh were on hand as usual, while newbie to the show, Maxim Magazine revealed its’ first-ever swim suit line. The general consensus of the suits that were shown was that showing ever more skin is in.

And that’s all the news that’s fit to slip into this blog this day. We hope your summer is swimming along nicely.
