The Golden Globes’ red carpet fall-out seems to be more about the Fiji Water Girl than any alternate fashion or accessory, although we shouldn’t be surprised as there weren’t any latex dresses or other alt. couture to be found at the show. (See our last blog about it here). Still, counting on Lady Gaga to wear something interesting, we were not disappointed. And just this week, mere days after the G.G.’s, the pop diva brought her fashion sensibilities once again to what is shaping up to be quite the award season tour couture she’s showing.
This week the A Star Is Born star attended the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala wearing a black tuxedo dress sporting a halter neck. The haute couture piece made by Ralph Lauren sported 23,000 crystals, and Gaga accessorized with black heels…and a black-and-gold feathered short cape. Decidedly, the lady did not wear the cape, instead taking to carrying it. Still, Lady Gaga’s wardrobe got as much attention (as is always the way with her) as the fact that this night she did indeed walk away with a Best Actress award.
As with Madonna decades before her, Lady Gaga is one of those celebrity fashion icons we can always count on. For fans of fetish wear, alt. wardrobe choices and latex, Lady Gaga is especially interesting in how she seems to be able to incorporate all of what we love into her red carpet looks, everyday wear and in what she manages for her costume stage pieces (see our blog on her current Vegas residency show Enigma; talk about wild fashions!). Gaga effortlessly plays with haute couture in her style as much as urban looks as well as everything beyond and in-between. This is why she is so much fun to watch and quite frankly so inspiring for us all to live vicariously through.
More award nominations for Lady Gaga can only mean more chances for us all to continue to marvel at her wardrobe choices.
