Did anyone think that the desert heat would deter Lady Gaga from wearing oversized dresses, hats, and boots and leather, lace, and latex?
Returning to the infamous Coachella festival for her first time in nearly a decade, Lady Gaga acted very much the Grande Dame headlining the opening day of the music extravaganza with a 20-song set taste of what her Little Monsters (and everybody else) can expect from her MAYHEM summer North American tour. The music set pieces, and as expected, the fantastic costumes— styled as she is by the Peri Rosenzweig and Nick Royal of Hardstyle—were nothing short of show-stopping spectacular. From an opera house, giant chessboard, zombie-filled sandbox, and more, Lady Gaga presented her over-the-top theatrical show in four acts.

Opening as the lady-in-red from her ‘Abracadabra” music video, the lady was set high atop a poofy red multi-storied gown, hiding several dancers under its ruffled skirt. Later she slightly stripped free of the outfit (cape coming off, etc.) to dance in her long red jacket, black body suit underneath and what were black mid-thigh latex boots (not the first time we’d see latex or these boots on L.G.).
Further on Gaga donned a Dolce & Gabbana buckle jacket, a mirrored catsuit, a black veil and black lace bodysuit, a blond wig, and white lace minidress, and an outrageous white feather bodysuit with exaggerated hip embellishments. This outfit sported a collar and gloves with ‘ ‘fingers’ that reached past Gaga’s knees!
More latex could be seen when she stepped out in a tight grey tunic with black late accents and high-cut latex shorts, the same as her dancer wore (see the pic above).
If this show was any indication of what Lady Gaga would be treating her audiences to this summer, no one will walk free of her concerts disappointed.
