From prime broadcast competition shows to reality TV, latex wardrobe makes its presence known, adorning our most popular and infamous. Sprinkle in a little cosplay, and there was no stopping our most favorite textile, seen as it was just recently on Katy Perry and Erika Jayne. And while these two ladies surely occupy different spaces in the pop singing/celebrity world, both were wearing a latex outfit this past week and wearing it wonderfully.
In Perry’s case, there have been many instances of the singer and American Idol judge showing off her impressive curves in latex. And in Dawnamatrix latex, in fact. You might remember her turn in our black latex ‘inflatable’ skirt as well as in our Skater Dress, both worn for Perry’s appearance in Covergirl’s “Plumpify Mascara” commercial (see the blog about it here). Before and since, she has worn latex, on SNL, in videos, out and about, and in her last Vegas residency.
Just this Sunday, post her well-viewed performance at King Charles’s Coronation Concert, Perry wore a full-body latex “Elastigirl” costume for American Idol’s Disney Night-themed broadcast show. Seeing as this was a Mother’s Day broadcast, Perry figured why not have fun with some latex cosplay dressed The Incredibles stretchy momma.
Erika Jayne, who has surely seen some controversy during her run on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, wore a cream-collared latex blouse over a hot pink latex dress with large cuffs for a full latex business suit look. The “Xxpen$sive” singer wore her Barbiecore-color wardrobe, once again showing off her recent weight loss, dressed in this latex ensemble during a round of the RHoBH ‘confessional’ interviews.
“Latex business,” she captioned her Instagram post, showing off the outfit… although the pictures she posted there are black and white.
It’s nice to know our mainstream stars are not forgetting the latex, whether it’s haute couture or cosplay.
