The Ever Suprising 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition

Although we weren’t exactly expecting any latex swimsuits, still the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition does offer up some sure surprises. And once again, those surprises are all about the modes.

As with these most recent S.I. issues, once again, there are alternate covers offered this year, each featuring a different female model/actress/personality on their own cover. Actress Megan Fox, model Brooks Nader, and pop singer Kim Petras have their own top spots, Petras representing the second transgender model to appear on an S.I. cover. And also with her own cover is the oldest lady who has ever appeared in an S.I. Swimsuit Edition, 81-year-old Martha Stewart.

We all must remember, though, that Martha Stewart started out modeling decades ago.

Non-cover models included in the 2023 swimsuit book include YouTube star Ellie Thumann, LSU’s Angel Reese and Olivia Dunne, and Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi. WAGS LA star Williams English is also inside, showing off her baby bump in her pics and her newborn daughter.

The issue includes twenty-eight models in total this time.

S.I. Swimsuit editor-in-chief M.J. Day says of the 2023 issue: “There is no theme [to this year’s issue]—there is a vision, a sentiment, a hope that women can live in a world where they feel no limitations, internally or externally. But the absence of a theme is not to say that [these women] don’t share common traits; They’re constantly evolving.”

The swimsuit edition has indeed ‘evolved’ since its beginnings in 1964 when the first issue featured a cover and five-page layout of model Babette March. Since then, the yearly issue has become an iconic production, with cover girls being announced on broadcast television and the magazine featuring some of the world’s best-known women from all different professional fields.

And surely now, of all different body types, ethnicity, and ages.
