Sunglasses in The Phoenician Scheme, Beyoncé New Stage Gear & A V.S. Breach

Sorry, not a hint of latex couture in the bunch, but here’s some fashion news to wrap up the month…

The Phoenician Scheme is so bright we have to wear Oliver Peoples shades.

Wes Anderson’s latest film, “The Phoenician Scheme,” stars Benicio del Toro. Besides the wildly comic turn the actor manages in the movie, he also sports an ultra-cool pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses in the film. This collaboration between the Los Angeles-based eyewear brand and Anderson has created a limited edition of glasses (10 pairs) that will be made available across the OP’s five New York boutiques, starting next week, on June 6, the opening date of the film.

Anderson’s previous forays into fashion included directing a commercial celebrating Montblanc’s Meisterstück pen 100th anniversary (Anderson designed a pen for them too) and directing a short advertising film for Prada.

Beyoncé’s New Look

Ending her first round of Cowboy Carter and Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour with five shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Beyoncé took her final performances in the New York area wearing a few stage costumes she hasn’t yet worn for her shows.

During “Alligator Tears” Beyoncé wore a black cowboy hat, black furry coat, and black buckled pants with a corset. Another new look came later in the show when she came on stage wearing a “NY” cowboy hat, chaps sporting sparkles, a fringed jacket, and a tee sporting an older picture of her husband Jay-Z.

She also sang a small piece of Jay-Z’s “I’m a Hustler” at this show.

It’s Not Such A Secret Victoria

Victoria’s Secret had to shut down its website and even stop some actual store service (such as returning online orders in person) this week when they suffered a “security incident.” The company did get things up and running quickly after their website “went dark” in the middle of this week and stores stayed open.

Although these troubles do bear the mark of a cyber-attack, V.S. has not yet reported what the problems were. It is troublesome to note though that Adidas announced that it had recently suffered what they call an “unauthorized external party” obtaining a smattering of their customer data, and UK’s Marks & Spencer, Harrods, and Co-op all shared news of recent cyberattacks.
