Halloween Costumes For 2017

Latex skirts, masks, long gloves are all being dusted off and smoothed of wrinkles round about now across the U.S. No, it’s not some country-wide lifestyle event you forgot to get tickets for, it’s All Hallow’s Eve about to descend. As cosplayers cast a bemused eye and all of us ‘regular’ wearers of alt. dress look on, cartoon characters, superheroes and sexy witches of every description and gender will take to parties and parades. And what will everyone be wearing? It should be no surprise that the best and brightest of Halloween 2017 costumes reflect, and even exactly imitate, our pop culture.

The ultimate in feminist movie expression is certainly enjoying heavy representation this year. As there would be no doubt, the Wonder Woman Movie Costume is pretty much available for women and young girls both. There are near-exact recreations of the stunning outfit Gal Gadot wore in her movie as well as more ‘cartoon-y’ attempts at her red and blue. And for the guys a multi-robbed Luke Skywalker, currently being salivated over in various trailers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, seems to be one of the more popular male costumes for this year.

Adult costumes often beget couples stepping out together…costumed. Beyond the classic pairing of one person dressing as peanut butter and another jelly, this year lots is being made of the fact that Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen finally met on this season of Game of Thrones. Culture fashion predictors have weighed in that this ‘couple’ will be represented very well by couples come this Halloween. And with Baywatch having come to the big screen over the summer, don’t be surprised if you find more than a few duos donning the infamous orange swimsuits.

Seeing how popular the “Riverdale” T.V. show is most likely plenty of ‘updated’ Archie comic characters will be right beside you bobbing for apples as well.

On the non-T.V./movie side of culture, there are certain to be Trump and Putin masks (maybe falling into the couple category?) worn as well.

As always, Halloween will prove to be a wild romp for kids of all ages. So enjoy, be safe and dress-up as much as you dare.
