There might not have been any latex couture worn, but when some superstar sports a pink cape down a red carpet, one needs to take notice of the outfit and the event.
Jennifer Lopez was the culprit wearing her hot pink gown and that cape at the 2018 American Music Awards (AMA’S) Tuesday night. One might remember J.Lo hosting this show three years ago and her costume changes when she did so. Down at the Microsoft Theater in LA.. this night she did not disappoint.
But lots of stars brought their haute couture A game.
Taylor Swift came in a Balmain long-sleeve, high-neck reflective mini-dress with matching thigh highs boots. Tyra Banks sported a dress shirt, wide black belt (almost a cummerbund actually) and a Gucci red fringe skirt. Dua Lipa was in a classic floor-length white gown with pleaded train. And Cardi B, as we would expect, was dressed in an eye-catching ensemble. She wore a matching floral hat and slit dress with spaghetti straps. Her’s was certainly one of the more colorful wardrobe choices of the evening
Super model Heidi Klum went with a net, beaded and fringe dress. Reality star Kyle Richards shocked in red velvet. And not to have the women have all the fun, Posy Malone wore a sky blue suit that had snake embellishments across the jacket.
The color and design reminding us of our pieces from our own Space and Time Collection, Ashlee Simpson wore a blue sequined Monique Lhuillier.
Statements made? Styles challenged? Stand-out trends? Influencing branding?
One of the most stunning wardrobe pieces any of us saw recently, was actually when Jennifer Lopez wore her sheer leaf-and-bamboo pattern Versace silk chiffon dress at the 42nd Grammy Awards the first year of the new millennium. That music show and the yearly VMA’s arguably mark a more ‘alternative’ fashion vibe than the more mainstream American Music Awards.
But looking in, one can’t help but notice how stunning everyone looked, from the wild to the mild to all in between.
