What They Wore at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards

The CFDA Fashion Awards, held in New York City this past Monday, surely brought out our finest and famous in high couture, but alas, there was no latex. Really, what are celebrities and notables thinking these days stepping out to such a high fashion event, and at an event about fashion, without even showing a hint of our favorite textile?

Oh well, here’s some of the highlights anyway…😊

This night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America honored tennis great Serena Williams with their Fashion Icon Award. Serena showed up in a bespoke black floor-length Thom Browne gown with oversized sleeves and train.

Former stylist Law Roach came in what might have been the most exciting wardrobe of the night. He wore a khaki coat with a matching skirt featuring cutouts, a white button top, a satin tie, and fishnets.

Influencer Emma Chamberlain stepped out in the popular modern fashion trend mix of couture with lingerie detailing. She was in a bustier gown tweed blazer, again created by Thom Browne.

Kim Kardashian, who topped TMZ-like lists the day after, fit herself into a bum-hugging Chrome Hearts backless gown. Kim kept a few of the dress’s silver buttons down its back undone, creating a perfect makeshift slit to show off her stilettos.

Saweetie’s Cult Gaia dress was made of woven material, featured 3D spirals on its neckline and the waist, and showed off side cutouts.

Model Amelia Gray Hamlin’s gown was a beautiful pale baby blue…and almost entirely see-thru. And speaking of color, Chloë Sevigny was all sunshine-y bright yellow in her Christopher John Rogers, with Molly Ringwald wearing bright red in Zac Posen’s one-shouldered gown.

And Demi Moore spun in a strapless floor-length Caroline Herrera disco ball dress, while Wisdom Kaye stood out mostly for his accessory of an oversized dog-shaped handbag.

And there was the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards….with no latex.
