We know there are latex outfits as well as latex accessories…then there are those little latex embellishments that add such a splash to one’s style they can’t rightly be ignored.
As we realized last week when we reported on it and this week when we mentioned it, we wondered if we’d really get clear of the 2026 Met Gala with only one blog about it. And this week it came to our attention that Tessa Thompson came to the ‘Oscars of Fashion,’ sporting something we can’t rightly ignore, try as we did to focus on the event’s couture. Especially with the embellishment we mentioned above being something as startling alt. fashionable as the latex manicure she was flashing on the Met Gala red carpet.
Accessorizing her outfit with lab-grown Pandora diamonds and surely adhering to this year’s Met Gala theme “Costume Art,” with the dress code being “Fashion Is Art,” the 42-year-old Creed star’s manicurist had dipped Tessa’s hand in blue latex paint. The cobalt blue of her fingers matched the color of Tessa’s stunning open-front Valentino gown.

Sure, wearing latex nails is nothing new (as this post walks one through all you need to know about them). But TT surely made them her own at this year’s Met Gala. But this is one woman who has made a splash often wearing latex at this event, if not others. One might recall Ms. Thompson wearing a foot-long latex braid at 2019’s gala (which she wielded like a prop whip), or the latex tie for her appearance last year.
She also made paparazzi and bloggers salivate by wearing a latex bra at the 2022 Neiman Marcus Launch Party.
Happy as we were to see and report about Dojo Cat’s bespoke sheer latex Saint Laurent robe, we are just as happy to blog about Tessa Thompson’s stylish embellishment made of our favorite textile.
