TikTok Partners With Japanese Female Pro-Wrestling League Sukeban for Anime Expo 2025 Fan Experience

We have previously reported on how some of our latex couture is being featured in and as the costumes on some of the lady Japanese Pro Wrestlers of the Sukeban league. And during this holiday weekend of Anime 2025 (occurring tomorrow through Sunday to be exact), Sukeban will be providing their first-ever World Championship Fight at Anime Expo (AX) on July 5th.

Sukeban is partnering with TikTok for the event to create an immersive fan experience at the expo. In their usual all-female blending of wrestling, anime, fashion, and music (and merch), once again fans will be treated to a one-of-a-kind experience, of tough and ready wrestlers battling girl gangs, all from Tokyo, fighting for world domination. The names of the rival ‘stables’ of ladies read like a who’s who of fandom fun; the Harajuku Stars, Cherry Bomb Girls, Dangerous Liaisons, and Vandals. And they will surely be flipping, rolling, bouncing off the mat (and each other) to eventually try to pin one another this weekend for the crown of Sukeban Champion.

Two years ago, Dawnamatrix collaborated with fashion designer Olympia Le-Tan to create latex outfits for some of the Sukeban ladies.  A sure traditional aesthetic also informs the look and play of the group, almost a mix and match of old and new. And loving and influenced by Japanese culture as we have since our beginnings (see our kimono designs here) and having lived in the country as well as traveled plenty there, you can understand how thrilled we were to get to dress some of these Sukeban athletes.

In addition to the Sukeban matches, fans of anime will be able to enjoy a full range of activities at the Los Angeles Convention Center this weekend. There will be interactive programming, live demos, autograph signings, and tutorials celebrating anime, manga, and Japanese culture.

You can get tickets for the Sukeban event here.
