When it comes to featuring latex couture and alternate fashions in her live performances and pretty much any place else we see her, Nicki Minaj is a queen. Yes, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, so many others singers and actresses wear latex bodysuits, tops and latex lingerie on stage, in their videos or just out and about town. But if you caught Nicki Minaj’s performances at the 2018 BET Awards just passed you’d have to admit this rapper/pop star is at the top of the heap when it comes to rockin’ latex.
As has already been blogged about here, Nicki’s latest two videos for her songs, “Chun Li,” and “Barbie Tingz,” see the singer in some fantastic outfits. But “Chun Li” especially makes use of some latex wardrobe that is out of this world. On stage at the BET’s last Sunday night Ms. Minaj came out to dance and sing, “Chun Li” among her backup dancers, dressed in black latex body suits with equally black thigh high boots. Nicki was wearing a PVC black robe with red piping.
She then flipped off the robe to get into what many call a ‘risqué’ rendition of “Rich Sex.” Here Nicki was wearing a cherry-red latex dress, open down the front, a pair of fishnet tights and red thigh-high heeled boots. Her dancers changed right along with her into red body suits, but retained their black thigh-high boots.
The entire Nicki Minaj eye-catching, Twitter-erupting star-turn ended with rappers 2 Chainz, YG and Big Sean, taking stage with Minaj for their collaboration “Big Bank.’ At that last moment Nicki rode a silvery pink horse (not a real horse) in a silvery and pink body suit.
The recent drops of tunes “Bed” and “The Light Is Coming,” this last seeing Minaj collaborating with Ariana Grande, all leads to the highly anticipated fourth studio album from the singer called Queen, to be released August 10.
