New York’s Spring Fashion Week: Celebrity Gazing

One could argue that the couture celebrities wear at the various Fashion Weeks— latex accessorizing, leather or maybe even rubber outfits, ‘street’ styles, etc.—garner as much notice as the couture being seen on runway presentations. Sure, this is to be expected in our hyper-celebrity culture, but this past week at New York’s Spring Fashion Week this modern phenomenon proved to be at a high-water mark on who was noticing whom and what they were stepping out wearing.

And we are not above noticing…

Sitting next to La la Anthony at the S by Serena Williams show, Kim Kardashian West wowed in a metallic curve-hugging top. While Serena herself showed up at this show carrying her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian, the tennis star sporting a modest slit skirt. The trio of Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls and Gigi Hadid slunk around the Savage x Fenty presentation in short wardrobe pieces and lose tops, while Kacey Musgraves attended the same show in loose tiger printed sweats and jacket.

Ashley Graham, presently pregnant, made the scene-and-be-seen with husband, Justin Ervin. They attend Serena’s offering as well, the plus-sized model mom-to-be in a short print dress.

Fat Joe made his presence known at the PrettyLittleThing x Saweetie Spring/Summer 2020 presentation wearing a Gucci sweatshirt, while Rosario Dawson, celebrating her own fashion line with Clase Azul tequila, wore a white suit with little black triangles adorned across it.

Celebrity branding also made its presence known in NYC; Cheetos’ fan-inspired #CheetosFlaminHaute took The House Of Flamin’ Haute Runway Show + Style Bar Experience at the beginning of the Fashion Week. Bright orange color fun seemed to be had by all.

Invested as we are to the textile art of latex rendering, we consistently keep our eyes peeled for these celebrity sightings or runway reveals that might show is a thing or two of that which we love the most.

New York’s Spring Fashion Week was high on celebrity attendance, low on latex love we feel.
