One of our competitors (no, we won’t name who) just published their “Latex trends 2026.” It’s an interesting assessment, some of which we agree with…and some not. But as we have always tried to keep up with fashion trends, be they latex, or any other respectable alt. fashion, we will surely champion the article’s pronouncement that these days latex fashion is about “wearability, not spectacle.”
What else do they claim?
We are in agreement that people who have taken to wearing latex couture in the past few years are mixing and matching. Not just in the latex pieces they might be wearing, but also in working their latex into what the article calls an otherwise ‘normal outfit,’ latex fashion not just ‘an all latex or no latex at all,’ style choice.
Hooray for this trend, we say!
We have been making the claim for many a year that black is not your only latex color choice. Yes, it might be many a wearer’s default (as it surely was and probably still is in the fetish fashion community that we dressed so many years ago). But color, and great bright lushness textures, are surely a trend in latex wear.
And have been for a while.
The article makes mention of seeing morel latex outerwear than ever before. While it is hard to judge this as a rising trend or not, we personally know that latex trenches and other outerwear have always been popular with our customers. So, who knows really if this can be a called a trend per se, but we do recommend grabbing that latex poncho if you are of a mind.
We think the same can be said about the concept of wearing latex lingerie as outerwear. In our circles we saw this trend writ large many many years ago. The article claims that two of the more popular pieces of this trend is the high-waisted latex panty or the ubiquitous latex cincher worn as a main piece.
Surely, we have seen plenty of folks dressing with these pieces front and center…and as their outer layer.
In the end, we latex fashion designers can end up chasing our latex tails if indeed we try to catch, anticipate or circumnavigate a trend, in latex dressing or any other kind of fashion. And as we know, trends will come and they will go, and almost always, come round again and even so, it might be too early into this year yet to even assess such things.
We are just happy latex is popular enough these days to be trending.
