As you might suspect, it’s going to take a few blogs for us to get over winning, pepper in some up-to-the-minute news and mostly express over overall humbleness as yet again another latex design of ours won at the World Of Wearable Art competition. This year we won the Overall International Design Award, International Design Award: Americas and Avant-garde Section Third, all for our Gemini: The Twins.
For three years in a row, we have been honored to have won awards at WOW and two of those three years, the first and this last one, Ben and I traveled to New Zealand. As we have always found both times visiting, New Zealand is just so wonderful and the capital city, where WOW is held, Wellington, so welcoming to WOW. There is more than just the competition that happens here in September, as I have already blogged about and we availed ourselves of as much as we could. One of the many highlights of our trip this year, certainly a ‘WOW’ moment, was when we attended a morning tea hosted by Deputy Chief of Mission, Kevin Covert, and Lesya. All of us World of WearableArt (WOW) finalists and NZ Fashion Tech designers were welcomed to the couple’s beautiful residence. WOW is an excellent platform to push the limits of imagination and creativity— something all the creative folks at the tea that morning and all WOW participants and attendees celebrate and encourage—and Ben and I felt that ethos at that tea as well as all during WOW this year.
As we have felt every year.
In the top picturs here, you see us accepting our award standing with Dame Suzie Moncrieff, the founder and resident judge of WOW. The second picture is of of our winning latex creation on the event stage the night it won.
