As we have blogged about plenty, for the 2nd year in a row we are matching our latex couture with classic and sexy cars at the Couture & Cars Fashion Show. Held down at the LeMay-America’s Car Museum on July 21, in Tacoma, this event is not to be missed by lovers of fashion, alt. design, gorgeous accessories…and of course, smokin’ hot cars. As we draw closer, we felt it might be time to reveal one of the signature pieces we are showing this year.
What you see here worn by model Jennifer Lakey is our Fractal Gown. It was inspired by the work of another designer showing at the C&C event, Han Yin of Ann X Ann X Design. In fact, all of our pieces (we are presenting twelve new ones this year) are going to be matched with something from Han Yin’s line. The Fractal Gown specifically represents one of the most complex laser cuts we have ever attempted and we are damn proud of its creation.
Some of our other pieces are inspired by MC Escher tessellations and we equally anticipate showing them off.
That’s the thing with events like this Couture & Cars Fashion Show, or WOW in New Zealand; Dawnamatrix is challenged to ‘up our ante’ in what we produce by the talent we appear with at these shows The designers and creators showing alongside us at the LeMay in two weeks represent a high-water mark of haute couture and imagination. We just can’t help but to be challenged and inspired by them all.
And although we do love to travel, having an event basically in our own backyard (or at least not continents away) makes things nice this time around.
