Sure, we knew there would be western wear in it, but during Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter show, was there latex? We had hope, seeing as Beyoncé wore latex on her last album’s cover and plenty during the outings she had for it. In Queen Bey’s new tour, which will take her to 32 stops across Europe and North America, the country-crossover star debuted stage costume collaborations during her first show in L.A., which just happened this week.
As one should have expected, there were lights, action, props, dancers—even Beyoncé’s daughters came out to perform with their mom. And, oh yeah, there was lots of music. And there was denim, plaid, leather, fur, feathers and fringes (oh my!). With styling led by Shiona Turini, Beyoncé wore bespoke Moschino, Robert Cavalli, and Mugler, to name a few of the well-known designers she is “collab-ing” with this time around.
Beyoncé was seen in a white bodysuit, cowboy hat, and chaps from Mugler that featured nearly 2000 laser-cut fringes. Midnight blue bodysuits from Burberry that she matched with her daughter Blue Ivy, who joined her mom on state for the song “Protector.” Beyoncé’s youngest daughter Rumi, was on stage as well, wearing some gold Oscar de la Renta.

Keeping with what seems still to be her favorite on-stage wardrobe choice, the super sexy and tight Roberto Cavalli “blinged-out” denim bodysuit worked wonders…of course. But when Beyoncé stepped free of the one-pieces (not that she needed to, looking smashing in them as she always does) she as much treated the audience to her strutting in denim ‘daisy dukes’ with fluffy white boots and a shiny tank, referencing her “Crazy In Love” video couture, as a truly futuristic LED dress, created by Anrealage, in collaboration with MPLUSPLUS. This last outfit of the night projected different images down and around the dress—from sparkling florals to a shimmering American flag-liek stars-and-stripes.
There’s lots to like here in all Beyoncé is presenting. But as the tour progresses will we see changes, additions or deletions, or even some latex? One can only ride the range with Miss Carter to see.
