Although she has not been sporting any latex wardrobe of late, making appearances at the Aquaman premiers around the globe, Amber Heard has indeed been striking out in some fashionista fantastic alt. outfits.
First, the 32-year-old actress blonde appeared in Beijing, China a few weeks ago in a Celine sleeveless creation that sported a short skirt and a teardrop front. This elegant and sexy black haute couture piece garnered the new DC movie heroine lots of press. Now, just the other night, at the movie’s premiere in London, Heard wore a gold and emerald green dress with a plunging neckline and train… with matching shower cap like accessory holding her blonde locks at bay.
In the movie, to be released worldwide December 21st, Johnny Depp’s-ex plays Mera, daughter of King Nereus. She swims right alongside half-human, half-Atlantean, all hunky Arthur Curry/Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa. Unlike her role in the Aquaman comic though, where Mera is Curry’s love interest, by all accounts in the Aquaman movie Heard’s Mera is a heroine for modern times.
As the lady herself said about the character:
“Mera, for instance, unlike Arthur, has a very solid constitution, a strong sense of self, who she is, what her role is, what her position is. And the sense of duty and honor that she uses to approach all of the situations of her life is one that I respect and really like, and I admire that.”
While the costume design in this latest comic book movie offering will surely stun fans, cosplayers, and simple moviegoers all, Heard has been truly stepping up her red carpet appearances (although the carpet at London Leicester Square premier was an ocean blue). Adding a shower cap to her latest ensemble certainly sets the bar high for alternatives to what our stars dare wear.
