Capturing Alt. Couture@ The 2021 People’s Choice Awards

Another big awards show blasted across national television, and you can bet we were on the lookout for latex couture. And even though the 2021 People’s Choice Awards didn’t exactly have our most favorite textile represented, there were some fantastic colors and alternate wardrobe choices that tickled us enough to level this report.

Indeed, we’ve reported plenty on her lately, but Christina Aguilera performed a melody of her greatest hits at the show, wearing a bold recreation of her “Dirrty,” chaps outfit. In black-and-yellow, as expected, Xtina reimagined her super sexy look from decades ago, wearing shiny satin instead of leather, and adding a corseted bodysuit and fishnets underneath.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, ‘star’ Dorit Kemsley paid tribute to Aguilera, wearing a version of some “Not Myself Tonight” couture. She was tightly held in a cut-out vintage Agent Provocateur gown with bold torso cut-outs.

Ex-Modern Family star Sarah Hyland rocked her hair in startling bangs while dressed in a marshmallow-puffy super short white Vera Wang. And once again, Kim Kardashian West opted to cover her curves, a seeming wardrobe choice of hers of late. She wore a black Balenciaga jumpsuit with a skirt and bra over the outfit.

“The Rock,” Dwayne Johnson showed up for the show in full Dolce & Gabbana. He wore a shirt and pants of different reds, accessorizing with a brown bomber jacket.

But seeming to top the Twitter space over the 2021 People’s Choice Award’s couture was, first, Halley Berry in her one-piece zippered sequin jumpsuit. And then Becky G, in her bright yellow Roberto Cavalli dress, cut up to her waist, leaving the lady bare on one side. The whole concoction was seemingly held in place by only two black straps, which matched her strappy black high heels.

What award show alt. couture awaits us in the New Year?
