Let’s get the slight controversy out of the way: It seems that Ashley Callingbull, the first First Nations Miss Universe Canada, crowned in 2024, stopped the competition this year to call out two contestants for appropriating clothing elements traditionally worn by Indigenous peoples.
During the costume section of the event, Karisa Haverkamp wore a turquoise, black and white feathered headdress; a small red painted hand on her cheek. Jasleen Kaily’s two-piece costume featured brown fringes on her thighs, which she matched with two braids, mukluks and a maple leaf cutout on her back.
The ladies have since apologized for their outfits.
At the 2026 HollyShorts Film Festival Opening Night, which happened last night in LA, more than a few celebrities who attended were dressed in their finest frockery. There was Vanessa Hudgens in a white satin maxi dress; Nathalie Emmanuel in an oversized, yet surely sexy big grey suit; and Lola Glaudini sporting BXR boxing shorts.

Happening on the UK’s August Bank Holiday—Sunday 24th to Monday the 25th—you can traipse among the usual food vendors, bands and floats and your fellow celebrants for the annual celebration of Caribbean culture. Feathers, sequins and metallics are just some of what you can expect to see in this two-day celebration, as well as celebrities like Jourdan Dunn and Lily Allen, who have been spotted in the crowd in the past.
Just recently we told you about John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever white suit going up for auction. His costar in Pulp Fiction, Uma Thurman, is seeing her own iconic costume, from that same film, heading to a Hollywood Auction end of this month. The simple white button-up and black Agnès B kick-flares she wore in the infamous scene where she dances with Travolta at Jack Rabbit Slim’s are expected to fetch between $15,000 and $30,000!
