Yes, there was latex couture at the 66th Grammys! We looked, hoped, and fantasized about a bespoke latex gown or even a small accessory adorning one of the celebrities who appeared at the Crypto.com Arena Sunday night. And our prayers were answered.
We were also treated to some other interesting wardrobe choices.
It’s become tradition for stars to walk the red carpet at these types of events in one outfit and then change into something different to wear inside the auditorium, especially if they perform. Miley Cyrus did just this. The Record Of The Year winner walked into the show wearing a Maison Margiela dress made only of gold safety pins that was more or less completely see-thru. When she performed her hit “Flowers,” later in the evening, Cyrus wore a metallic-silver fringe dress seeming to be paying homage to Tina Turner who died this year.
Metaphorically wearing her heart (or at least some veins) on her sleeve, Caroline Polachek’s dress revealed red veins and arteries down its front. Grammy record-breaking winner, Time’s Person of the Year, Taylor Swift, wore a Schiaparelli corset gown, baring a copious amount of bare thigh through its sky-high slit. Lenny Kravitz was in see-thru shirt, black pants, accessorizing with vintage Dior shades. Doja Cat was in a sheer gown that showed off her body art. This night one of her faux tats was the face of her dress’s designer, Dilara Findikoglu.
Kylie Minogue was also in blood red, as much winning Best Pop Recording for “Padam Paam,” as wearing a Dolce & Gabbana floor-length corseted dress
Kat Graham’s white cutout gown was probably the most interesting design of the night, sporting an exaggerated rectangle-shaped front piece across her shoulders and a long cape.
Lastly, the latex.
Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio strutted into the proceedings wearing a slithery body-hugging brushed silver metallic latex gown.
Yes, we might be biased, but this ranks as one of the best, if not best, couture of the night.
