Music, latex, naughty lyrics…just what is 2020 coming to? And how can we get more of it?! If you have yet to catch it, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Body” video (see it here) dropped last week with her new album “Good News.” It’s a fantastically dirty call to female body image and empowerment, featuring some arresting costuming, stunning styles, lots of booty, and an array of cameos.
The guest stars, styles, and couture? There is actress Taraji P. Henson in a sleeveless black bodysuit and little shorts, sporting a black leather hat and long iron-straight long pink hair. Jordyn Wood appears in a PVC bodysuit and headpiece, fishnets, and chains. Asian Doll slinks around in a bikini, Malibu Mitch in a short silver scaled skirt, thigh-high stockings, and pasties, and Blac Chyna shows lots of herself (probably the lady who shows the most actually) in a high-neck shirt, with an open front and latex pasties and black leather chaps.
And this is to name just a few of the cameos and the fantastic wardrobe seen here.
What does the star wear? Megan opens the video, directed by Colin Tilley, the same man who helmed Cardi B’s “WAP,” wearing a black head stocking down across her eyes and a thrilling sheer black mesh bodystocking. Later we catch her in a black bra, fishnets, and panties cavorting with her dancers and closing the video wearing an oversized coat, bedazzled open bodice, and not much else. She even rides a white dragon at one point in the clip.
If all of this “ody, ody, ody” stuff wasn’t enough, Megan’s new 106-piece almost all-denim clothes collection, just beginning to be sold by Fashion Nova, took in $1.2 million in the first full day.
Like Cardi B before her (you will recall Megan Thee Stallion appearing in Cardi B’s “WAP”), here we get another female-empowerment statement, this time with Megan championing ladies no matter their shape and size.
And looking so good doing it.
