Not that the costumes won’t be super cool, made of latex, leather, PVC and a whole bunch of other materials. But the haute couture the stars of Avengers: Endgame wore at the movie’s premiere at the Los Angeles Convention Center this week demanded such notice, print and online news outlets were rushing to show off all the star wardrobes.
And those wardrobes were really cool.
The male stars of the movie, guys like Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Chris Evans, showed off in perfectly elegant suits for the occasion; Evans rocked a fantastic blue Salvatore Ferragamo besting the rest of the brood. For the ladies, much was made of Brie Larson’s leggy and lavender Celine dress. And photographers and fans both had a field day feasting their eyes over Scarlet Johansson in a shimmery silver body-hugging Versace, most notable for the clear view of Johansson’s bare back and her expansive tat back there,
Karen Gillan, who plays “Nebula,” in this new movie as she has in the past Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Avengers: Infinity War, wore the most unusual outfit of the night. She made quite the showing past the gowns and suits in her red at the top, black at the bottom, ‘feathery’ Christopher Kane.
What’s especially fun is when fiction tropes seep into our real life. A hearty “Excelsior!” being shouted from the lips of fans, people dressing whole rooms in their homes like the bridge for Enterprise, etc. At this past premier two of the movie’s stars, “Captain Marvel” and “Black Widow:—the aforementioned Brie Larson and Scarlett Johansson respectively—accessorized their outfits with jewelry right out of the Avenger’s series. Both sported Infinity Gauntlet-inspired pieces, rings and wristlets seeming sporting the very powerful jewel used by Thanos in the last Avengers movie “Avengers: Infinity War,” to wage some very bad juju on the universe.
