Oh, for the days when a latex catsuit might get this kind of attention! It seems the latest issue of Vanity Fair has fashionistas, fans and eagle-eyed spotters truly excited. The cover of the magazine’s 2018 Hollywood issue features a group of big time movie-dom movers and shakers. Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks, to name just a few, are posed with Reese Witherspoon cuddling up next to Oprah Winfrey…and there-in lies the trouble. By optical illusion that quite often happens in even the most elite haute couture photography, and this picture was shot by Annie Leibowitz’s now less, it seems that Reese Witherspoon sports three legs visible through the slit in her gown.
On this physical anomaly photo faux paus Vanity Fair tweeted: “While we would have loved the exclusive on [Reese’s] three legs, unfortunately it’s just the lining of her dress.” But this was after the actress and Oprah offered their own tweets about what was quickly becoming this week, the three-legged controversy.
Reese Witherspoon’s tweeted: “Well…I guess everybody knows now…I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am.” With a smiley face adding: “and I will never apologize for snuggling Oprah…if you get the opportunity, I highly recommend it.”
To which Ms. Winfrey tweeted her reply: “I accept your 3rd leg. As I know you accept my 3d hand.”
Oprah is referring to a behind-the-scene shot of the cover shot shown across special media, in which she clearly seems to be sporting three hands while holding Reese close.
Not that high-end fashion photography or even Instagram pics haven’t had their share of Photoshop mistakes and out and out chicanery. But at least here we have celebrities having fun over all this silliness. No matter how many limbs or appendages they do or do not have.
