Official WOW Finalist Announcement: Dawnamatrix 9th WOW Finalist Entry!

Yes, the World of Wearable Art show is coming around once again (as we recently told you here), and a new Dawnamatrix latex wardrobe entry has made it in as a finalist. This is our 9th WOW entry and the 4th collaborative finalist piece I designed with Ben Gould.

Once again, it is an unprecidented thrilled to be a finalist in the WOW show!

Here is the official finalist announcement from WOW: https://www.worldofwearableart.com/content-hub/2025-finalists-selected?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwLhzl9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHiP6D7vD3uyTuflMb3VW1YpFJDq_ItYwhnp1cdPGV91sWSA4MDLy9hw8lqdM_aem_3Vz4X6UzolV773lTUJxJ2Q

As you can read from the first link, 86 finalist garments have been selected for the 2025 competition, created by 100 designers from 17 countries. The entrants’ age range is from 19 to 81 and we are so proud to be among the WOW grouping for yet another year. Our entry this time was inspired from my time living in Japan (more than this about our entry needs to be kept under wraps until it is revealed at the WOW show).

According to WOW’s judges, the variety of materials used for the wardrobe pieces submitted is a particular feature. This attention to variety is something the World of Wearable Art has always been very acutely aware of ( we love how much love latex gets here in Wellington), and beyond what we have submitted, finalists this year have made pieces out of everything from coffee capsules, pull-tabs, gumboots, and buckles.

The three special sections for this year— Myths & Legends, Air, and Neon—have resulted in what the competition is calling “a riot of colour, quirk and curiosity.”

The 2025 WOW Show: RISE takes flight at the TSB Arena in Wellington from 18 September to 5 October. 60,000 attendees are expected to witness our finalist garments brought to life on stage in what always amounts to Aotearoa’s largest theatrical production. On the annual Awards Night, what WOW calls ‘the Oscars of wearable art’, the winners of over NZD $200,000 in prizes will be announced.

This is where you can get tickets to the show: Don’t miss out, book your tickets today!
