Being a latex designer, we are certainly in tune with and champion every expression of honest and peaceful individuality. From marching through Montreal with our fellow alt. fashion lovers, to just slipping on a hood simply because we like the way it feels, like you all we are thrilled to be part of a community of free thinkers and doers. And some truly great free thinking and doing is coming to NYC this week in two events: the LGBT Expo and CineKink 12th Annual Film Festival.
The 22nd year of the LGBT (that’s over two decades!) presents a full seminar experience over a jam-packed weekend. With what the promoters are boasting this attendees will experience across their “enhanced entertainment stage” speakers this year will include; FDNY Firefighter Brooke Guinan presenting “The Transgender Workplace,” WNBA’s New York Liberty hosting a panel discussion exploring “LGBT and Athletics,” Sgt. First Cass Denny Meyer presenting his “A Blunt History of Gays in the Military” and social media expert Matt Skallerud, president of Pink Banana Media his “The LGBT Community Connecting Through Technology In The 21st Century.”
Details for the weekend can be found here.
From February 24-March 1, 2015 CineKink NYC returns for its twelfth year. Opening Tuesday, February 24th@ 8 PM, with a fundraising kick-off extravaganza at Taj (48 W. 21st Street, NYC), the festival moves to Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Avenue, NYC) from Wednesday, February 25 through Saturday, February 28, and then there’s a DIY filmmaking workshop, awards celebration and an “AfterGlow” play party to end everything on Sunday, March 1.
Fans as we are of all kinds of cinema, but especially films of a decidedly ‘edgy’ sensibility, the list of what will be shown this year reads to us like quite the scrumptious shmosregboard. On 2/25 (just two days from now, so be quick and get your tickets here) the festival opens with films “Inside Her Sex” and “Air Sex: The Movie.” Other titles spanning the end of the week and across the weekend are: “Love Hard,” “Body Of God” “A Tribute To Club 90” documentary, “High Shine: 15 Years Of International Ms Bootblack” (something lots of Dawnamarix fans might be interested in?). On the last day a course will be presented for making your own naughty movie, FROM FANTASY TO FILM as well as the annual Cinekink Awards and a party to follow to close-out the event.
Enjoy your fellow like-minded friends, just bask in the glow of all this honest and healthy individuality…and don’t forget to wear some pasties or a kimono at either or both events. A great city and great happenings, how can you beat it?
