Although we haven’t seen any latex wardrobe (yet) Katy Perry took the beginning of Paris Fashion Week by storm. About to drop new music, the 39-year-old pop diva took the opportunity of all eyes in Paris to show herself in grand and wild style and push her brand.
A video posted (from which the above picture was taken) shows Perry strutting across an arcade runway at the Place Vendôme, live drummers behind her for Vogue World: Paris. The Noir Kei Ninomiya gown is what Vogue describes as a “geometric naked dress,” with its well-placed floral embellishments and lots of see-thru spaces.
Then the former American Idol judge was seen stepping out in a one-shoulder bloodred Balenciaga dress sporting a 200-yard long train. Down that train the lyrics from her latest single “Woman’s World,” were written.
Lastly, but surely just as stunning a wardrobe turn, Perry was seen attending the Balenciaga Haute Couture fall-winter 2024 fashion show. Despite the blistering heat, the lady was wearing just a black fur coat, over her naked torso and equally black tights with fashionable rips down the legs.
Katy announced that “Woman’s World” the first song to be heard from her upcoming 6th album, will be released (dropped) on 7/11. Just a week-and-a-half ago, Katy released a stunning picture of the album’s cover, shot by Jack Bridgland featuring her in a semi-sci-fi look, wearing a white bikini and sporting robot legs.
Is it a couture-culture-musical chicken-or-the-egg circumstance when we see a pop star, or any celeb for that matter, using a fashion event or anything else to show off some wild style, in the midst of upcoming promotion for their brand? Who knows?
In the case of Katy Perry, no matter what music is released and even what it sounds like, we did get some great sartorial turns in Paris from the pop diva.
