Working within the world of latex couture design as we do, one of our constant concerns is over how much a customer might want a wardrobe to reveal as opposed to what it conceals. And even when a bespoke latex piece we are creating is made to cover more than it shows, by the very nature of our favorite textile, it can reveal plenty of a body’s shape and size, which makes latex, as we have always believed, the sexiest of all materials. But there is something to be said for a good nude now and again. Even in light of all that we can produce and what we see too many video stars and Hollywood royalty rocking on red carpets with what they show, a nude from a famous person can go far in either making a statement or, in the case of Ashley Graham’s latest, work wonders as a postpartum declaration as well as a great billboard.
Graham shot pictures in the nude, just three and a half months postpartum, for Spanx’s Silver Linings fabric. The company is using this fabric to make all-white pants and shorts of “100% opacity,” they claim, “no matter how dark one’s underwear.”
As Graham told People magazine of this recent photoshoot: “I don’t think I’ve ever been naked on a billboard before. I’m trying to remember — I’ve been modeling for so long — but I don’t think I’ve ever been naked.” The mom/model added: “I have much more gratitude toward my body because of how much work it’s been through, but it has definitely taken time to, you know, look at my new body and my postpartum body, and recognize it again.”
Thoughout the Dawnamatix catalog, you will find a wide variety of outfits and accessories that as much reveal as much as conceal, in the naughtiest of ways. And as Spanx is doing with Ashley Graham, we have always welcomed people of any shape or size to find their way into our latex. But rest assured, we will always champion everyone to be nude.
Graham’s billboard is now on display in Los Angeles.
