We just received some great images from the World of Wearable Art Competition/WOW, where another of our latex designs won multiple awards year (which we told you about in this blog just a little while ago). Not only do these pictures show our outfit worn by the model in the show and on stage, but if you look closely at the top shot that leads off this blog, you can see Mr. David Gehrenbeck, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Wellington, holding a phone in his hands, showing yours truly, on its face.
Since we couldn’t make it to New Zealand this year, the honorable Mr. Gehrenbeck indeed came up on stage for us to accept the awards we had won. And during the award ceremony, I had the unique honor of livestreaming the event and experiencing the presentation from where I was across the world from WOW. This is why you happen to see my happy smiling face and how I could be in New Zealand and not be at the same time.
What a thrill to win WOW once again (along with Snow Winters, who was my partner in designing our Digital Ascension of Kitsune outfit) and to be able to take full advantage of technology to share in the moment.
The awards were presented by Meg Williams, CEO of World of WearableArt, and judge Benny Castles, Project Runway NZ judge and designer and director at NZ fashion house WORLD. Reiterating what we won this year, we took home the “International Design Award: Overall,” “International Design Award: Americas,” and “Winner of the Gold Section.”
The World of Wearable Art Competition never disappoints, whether Dawnamatrix happens to win it or not. This global event is truly unique and such an honor to be part of. And the show is so spectacular. Again, we can’t thank WOW enough for letting us be part of the competition and for me to participate in this year’s festivities in such a unique, modern (dare I say it) WOW way.
