Here are two latex couture moments that happened so far this week, and some interesting couture styling with one of the world’s most popular home improvement materials…
Lisa Rinna, actress, entrepreneur, and most recently known as one of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” donned a black short-sleeve skintight red-and-black latex one-piece dancing on set for a photo shoot and Instagram clip. The shoot was for the 60-year-old’s Rinna Beauty lip product rollout.
Two-time Eurovision winner, Swedish singer, and songwriter Loreen sets the cover of the new Marie Claire ablaze wearing a latex bra and thong with a Mugler dress. Surely known for some alt. forms of dress and her voice, Loreen once again makes news with what she is wearing.
And lastly, being ever so creative with a material far and away from our favorite textile, Karla Torres is the most recent winner of Duck Brand’s Stuck at Prom contest. Contestants of this contest are urged to “Create and wear your original promwear using Duck® Brand Duct Tape and/or Duck® Brand Crafting Tape. Remember to take a high-resolution pic of the big moment!”
Torres, a recent graduate of Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School in LA, took 120 hours and 14 rolls of tape to create her bespoke pink gown, rising above the more than one hundred other participants in the duck-tape couture competition. An artist herself, Torres claimed her gold-highlighted dress was inspired by French art circa 18th century. The only person in this year’s competition from California to reach the ten finalists stage, Torres accessorized with a duct-tape fan and clutch.
Additionally, in the contest’s “tuxedo” category, Ian Hernandez Rojas of Taylorsville, Utah, took the grand prize, wearing a duct-tape suit and headdress inspired by his Mayan and Aztec background.
