From latex to outrageously busty candy-colored video costumes to just about any current trending designer you can name, Cardi B wears it all. And she wears it well. And although at the just past 2021 American Music Awards, Machine Gun Kelly, Olivia Rodrigo, and West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler indeed turned heads and made Twitter feeds with what they wore. Host Cardi B arguably ruled the day with her wardrobe.
And how many different outfits she wore.
Stepping across the red carpet entering the AMA’s, the diva wore a long-sleeve, black velvet dress sporting a train. Cardi B accessorized the look with a black tulle veil, black gloves with gold fingers, and, most strikingly, a gold metallic mask.
Her next ensemble, put together by Alexandre Vauthier and the first when Cardi made the stage to begin the broadcast, saw the WAP singer again in black. This time the lady accessorized with a huge feathered headpiece that trailed behind her.
Cardi’s third wardrobe choice was another black velvet gown, this time matched with thigh-high silver-sparkle boots.
Next up, Cardi B wore a neon yellow gown with a flowing train. Sporting ruffles, a high neckline, sheer sleeves, and a long skirt, the lady brought this splash of color to the night to accept a “Favorite Hip-Hop Song” trophy.
Cardi continued the headpiece trend with a black fan-like affair for her next look. She wore a silky structured corset top and long skirt to complete this look.
The last stage outfit Cardi wowed viewers with was maybe her most sedate of the night; black leather pants, blue jacket, and boots.
Leaving the AMA’s, Cardi B posed on the red carpet one last time, finally dressed in a sky-high slit white dress, blonde faux hair headpiece, the entire ensemble bedazzled with crystals.
Not that anyone had any doubt that Cardi B would bring this much sartorial splendor and alternative fashion panache to the 2021 American Music Awards. But from all accounts, she exceeded all expectations.
