The Cosplay Wonder Of Another WonderCon

News of cosplayers in their leather, latex, and PVC descending on the just passed WonderCon spread like wildfire across the blog o’sphere last week. With reporting like this WonderCon 2025: Cosplay, space rockers and heroic hugs in Anaheim – Orange County Register and WonderCon 2025 Attendees Inspire Awe with Wild Cosplay Outfits the SoCal convention surely seems to have been alive, per usual, with the comic/anime/fantasy faithful coming to show their wares and costume creating skills.

Although the granddaddy San Diego Comic-Con is a few months away, WonderCon happened again in Anaheim. There were mass Mandalorian groupings to “Short Rounds” and Indy sightings, to all kinds of fans enjoying themselves among the 900 exhibitors of comics, toys (an all-new SIMPSON’S Funzo Feature Plush among them) original art, and other merch. Additionally, the weekend included a kid’s film festival, autograph meetups, panels, and for those cosplayers, a masquerade.

And a whole lot more.

Although organized by the same group that makes San Diego Comic-Con happen, WonderCon is generally regarded as a much more relaxed gathering. There can be some overlap in panels and presenters, and San Diego might see more A-list celebrities generally (although this year stars like Brian Posehn and Todd McFarlane attended to name just a few). But with fewer lines, the WonderCon exhibit hall isn’t ever as packed as San Diego’s Comic Con or New York’s Comic Con. And unlike the conventions in San Diego and even New York City, where the event overflows beyond its buildings—San Diego Comic-Con surely overruns the city during its weekend—WonderCon pretty much stays in its convention space. And seeing that WonderCon happens not very far from Disneyland itself, attendees can avail themselves of Walt’s OG park in addition to having fun at WonderCon.

A more relaxed gathering as it is, still the cosplayers were in full force at WonderCon, as they seem to be every year.
