Last week, the UK held its Fashion Awards, and among the many winners (see here), there was a clear showing of some fantastic couture, some of it even latex.
If you didn’t know, according to its website, the UK Fashion Awards unite “the global fashion community in London, the home of fashion and creativity, to amplify leaders of change, celebrate excellence and support the next generation of creative talent. The event serves as the main fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, which supports the future growth and success of the British fashion industry through its focus on education, grant-giving, and business mentoring. The Fashion Awards presented by Pandora not only shines a spotlight on the outstanding contributions of emerging and established cultural fashion leaders but also raises awareness of the foundation’s vital work.”
But beyond the awards given out for “Model of the Year,” “British Menswear Designer,” “Designer and Outstanding Achievement Award,” and “Leader of Change,” among others, we everyday folks (even a latex designer) were salivating over what the attendees wore.
For instance.
Actress Daisy Ridley was in a cropped red top and gray pleated skirt. Alexa Chung dared in a brown fur coat over a midi dress. And model Alek Wek wore a red-hot low-cut dress with slits up the sides and an open front.
But it was sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey who truly had paparazzi spinning, wearing drastically contrasting couture. And one of the talented young women showing off herself wonderfully in our favorite textile.
Arriving hand in hand at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Halle was dressed in a white sculptured floor-length pearl dress, sporting a fringe pattern. Her sister Chloe wore an Atsuko Kudo black off-the-shoulder latex gown with a plunging neckline edged in red lined cups of a daring bust cutout, and long train off its fitted fishtail skirt. We can’t come out and say it was the favorite of all the wardrobe we saw…but then again, can’t we?
