Oscars: Pre, During and After Couture

Impossible as it is not to watch the red carpet walk into the Oscars, (and wish for a hint of latex) surely the stars making the scene of parties before and after the ceremony (certainly after) get as much press. Hinting at what they might wear at the actual ceremony, switching outfits between what is televised and what surely is not, there are a lot of sartorial comparisons one could make…which we’ve done below.

Never one to disappoint, At Vanity Fair’s & Instagram’s “Vanities A Night For Young Hollywood,” party Julia Fox wore a white man’s button-up, black tie, black jacket, and little black hot pants with see-thru black leggings. At the Vanity Fair Oscars party after the show, she was part of the naked dressing trend (which we will see plenty more ladies adopted at this affair) dressing in a see-thru wrap dress, her strategically placed hair extensions barely covering her chest.

At the award ceremony, we all caught nominee Timothée Chalamet in a yellow leather suit, but at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, he was in a simple black suit. His date, Kylie Jenner, dressed in her bespoke Miu Miu dress for the awards, changed into a strapless sheer corset and lace skirt for the after-party.

Cynthia Erivo, who opened the actual show singing signature songs from “Wicked,” walked into the Oscars wearing an emerald-green velvet dress silhouetted by a high “Dracula collar” and a huge, massive bow. Her dress for the after-party? A gauzy gray Vivienne Westwood gown crisscrossing over her torso down into a mini dress, sporting a floor-length train off to the side.

In addition to what Julia Fox wore, that naked dressing trend was carried off so seductively, by Olivia Wilde in her see-thru embroidered lacey white gown; Zoë Kravitz revealing the uppermost part of her backside in a mesh cutout long-sleeve Saint Laurent, and Elizabeth Hurley and Doja Cat in equally revealing see-thru couture.

And we have to make notice of Isabella Rossellini, a first-time nominee this year, wearing a blue velvet gown, paying tribute to just recently departed David Lynch.

And for opening comic relief Adam Sandler was dressed oh-so-very casually, giving yet another signature shout-out to (and hugging) Timothée Chalamet.
