We’re not sure how many modern teen comedy movies have had latex costumes in them, but we’ll still easily champion the recently announced American High costume sale.
The Liverpool, N.Y.-based film production company/teaching institution, just wrapping its 20th production, has grown with a huge costume collection. And whether you want Dexter Darden’s “The Binge,” tuxedo, all the clothes Pete Davidson wore in “Big Time Adolescence,” or just shoes and accessories worn by various background players, the big sale is happening in a week and you’ll be able to grab items from it.
The affordable price range (between $10 and $50) make shopping here possible within just about anyone’s budget, and with proceeds from sales going to The Academy at American High film school as well as the sale hoping to free up space at the movie studio (located at the former A.V. Zogg Middle School and Liverpool high school) the benefits to one and all are numerous.
As stated on their website “The Academy at American High was founded in 2018 by a collective of entertainment industry veterans interested in discovering and fostering new talent.” With a mission to provide “comprehensive training in digital media and content creation delivered by highly qualified professionals,” the school’s innovative formats prepare students, who might not have the resources for a career in entertainment or media, to study in these fields.
The films produced by AH include the ones mentioned above as well as “The Ultimate Playlist Of Noise, “I Love My Dad, and Hulu’s “Sex Appeal.” And while we see auctions earning thousands for iconic Hollywood movie costumes and pieces, what American High presents here is surely within reach for us all.
We wish them luck…even though there isn’t much in the way of latex here.
The sale is set to occur Aug. 24-25, from noon to 5, @ The McCarthy Mercantile, located in the basement under downtown Syracuse’s Wildflowers Armory. If more items are to be sold, additional sales might be held on following weekends at this location.
