We don’t ever mind giving a nod to another designer, be they using latex or not. Just a few blogs back we mentioned the relaunch of the Yummy Gummy brand, happy as we are to see our friend and talented designer Rebecca Allsop having another chance to see her vision writ large. And you know we have just loved meeting all the fabulous designers we get to compete alongside at the WOW competition. Be they using latex, leather, PVC, or some other wickedly creative textile (in an equally wicked creative way) we just love being around people as passionate as we are, working hard to make their dreams into reality.
Today we came across the launch of the Daruqe collection from designer Coquette and we thought we’d expound a little on what we see, and how this prompts us to consider, yet again, latex lingerie.
First to Coquette. Founded in 1979, by Catherine and Peter Horea this family-owned Canadian lingerie company has grown into a successful wholesale company that services retailers all over the world. Not a mere three years ago Catherine and Peter stepped away from Coquette, leaving their children Marcus Horea and Petra LoBrutto as Co-Presidents and to keep alive Coquette’s commitment to releasing a variety of collections every year. Their new Daruqe line speaks to our roots in this specific lingerie’s line fetish aesthetic.
Working with latex as much as we have in our history, surely we have had our bespoke fetish moments, well before latex was so mainstream.
We also know lingerie well, the second part of what we wanted to elaborate on in this blog.
From briefs to bras, thigh-highs, and garter belts, to cinchers and thongs, and some pasties thrown into the mix, Dawnamatrix has had a latex lingerie line pretty much from our inception. And very much like Coquette we as much appreciate the downright flirty sexy look as something more, dare we say, fetish-y one can mix and match in lingerie wardrobes.
So, we celebrate Coquette’s new line, we celebrate anyone’s desire to express themselves wearing lingerie and we celebrate latex panties along with everything else that makes one feel good when they wear it.
