The Latex Fashion Awards?

Our friends over at Latex24/7 have just announced an upcoming Latex Fashion Awards. The upcoming celebration, with no date as of yet set, would indeed be, as L247 claims, the “world’s first latex fashion awards.”

This all got us thinking, “Hey, there never has been an award show just for our favorite textile. And furthermore, why has it taken so long?”

We do go on and on here about the red carpet see-and-be-scenes of music award shows and the yearly roll out of Hollywood celebrating itself across its various highly publicized award outings. And we have the specific fashion awards and the Met Gala, a granddaddy celebrity-filled paparazzi frenzy for fashion fronting a yearly museum costume exhibit. And let’s not forget all the Fashion Weeks that occur in scrumptious locations around the world, exhibiting the late fashions in a parade of runway shows highly-publicized that surely seem as much award show as any real award show.

But yes, latex couture has gotten the short shrift through the years.

We sometimes found awards being given out at the many fetish events that so populated the globe pre-COVID and are now slowly making a comeback. Sites like Latex 24/7 let us know about these happenings on a regular basis and we have as much attended some, as dressed models for runway moments peppered throughout these weekends. And of course, there is the yearly WOW awards (see pic above), which we are now even preparing for again (more in this later), but WOW, fantastic as it is, is not just about latex.

So, we do indeed welcome even the possibility of a latex fashion award, and the actual ‘Glossy’ Award or “Glossies,” that the fashion awards will be presented to the winners, of what is so far planned as only an online event.

Why not give our favorite textile its due, we say. Yes, bring on the Latex Fashion Awards!
