Buying Latex

Reading this fashion news post today: EBay Acquires Depop from Etsy for $1.2 Billion, made me think of something I wonder often: where are people buying latex these days?

As you’d be able to tell with even a cursory read of this blog, we enjoy a healthy competition with our fellow latex designers and retailers. We are ever so respectful of each other’s talents, champion our accomplishments across the board (like calling out the many winners across the various categories of the yearly WOW competition), and revel in how each of us, small and large, make up the wonderful world of latex fashion.

I can assure you, even without directly speaking to each and every latex designer I know, that we all want you to keep buying latex and endeavor to make that buying experience as pleasant as possible. There are a great many brick-and-mortar alternative clothing stores out there, latex designer websites, and you might even find one or two of us in the vendor room of a fashion show or fetish event. Also, as with anything else, we recommend talking to latex aficionados or a friend who might own a latex corset or latex pants; if they like their latex wardrobe pieces and how they were treated by the person selling them, seek out these places.

Reputation goes far these days, especially when the general populace can put up a negative as well as positive review with the flick of a finger.

Beyond the semi-provocative headline to the piece above, I have no clear idea how eBay buying Depop might affect the latex couture business, if it will, at all. What I mostly gleaned from the article is that the prevailing thought is that this purchase will allow wider access for all parties, as sellers predict a wider reach to their buyers. What I can say for certain, no mater how eBay or Depop fall into the overall fashion buying equation, there are still plenty of latex designers ‘out here’ who take catalog orders as well as fulfill bespoke latex needs.

I promise you, we’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
