The ‘Real-ity of Latex

Is anybody surprised that the latest tech has intruded into latex couture? Chat GPT, computer-generated images, and all types of modern digital advancements have been a welcome bedfellow to the world of fashion for years. That we currently see a deeper, barely detectable AI infiltration into the sartorial space shouldn’t be surprising. And upon tripping across this video one sees that these proposed “Hottest Latex Fashion Moments of 2025” recreated as runway moments are AI-generated.

Not that any lover of latex shouldn’t be thrilled with any attention. And there were indeed some hot latex moments of the last year, as was what our blog was mostly made of from. But the various latex wardrobe pieces, as the models here, are not real.

What is shown though from the Shiny Queens youtube channel, is an interesting array of latex fashion choices, so we must give the makers of this computer rendering their due. Latex catsuits seem to rule the production, but there are also latex jackets and pants, flowy high-necked latex capes, latex gloves, sculpted, longer jacks, dresses, and gowns. Colors pop here as well, from bright reds to greens, lots of two-tone ensembles, metallics, and of course, black.

One can’t say this AI-rendered fashion show is not diverse. The ‘Hottest Latex Fashion Moments’ does play well and showcases a good array of our favorite textile designs. It’s just that the video plays more like a well-rendered, slick cartoon than a fashion show reveal of actual 2025 fashion highlights.

But again, why complain? Anytime and in any way that latex fashion gets its due, we should be happy. Look how long it took us to get mainstream acceptance, and at every year’s round up Hollywood award show red carpeting, we ache to catch a glimpse of a latex top or even an accessory.

Yes, AI might be ruling the world presently, but at least it is considering latex.
