Lots of latex couture and latex accessories were seen out and about this week.
As we know, our ‘reality stars,’ in the US as well as abroad, love their latex. From “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hill,” Erika Jayne yet again sporting our favorite textile (in the latest episode of the series she accessorized a ‘confessional’ moment with latex gloves) to Maddie Reese on the latest episode of “Southern Charm” wearing a tight little pink latex dress at her mock Elvis wedding. Then we have the hat trick in the UK with Maya Jama appearing on the latest episode of the UK’s “Love Island: All Star’s”, in a full-length latex evening dress with a sky-high slit and cutouts. At the premiere of what might be (?) the last episode of the Bridget Jones movie series, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Sophie Habboo, of the UK’s “Made in Chelsea,” accessorized her latex leggings with a latex corset. And lastly, during a MAC Cosmetics event in old London Town last week, TV personality and star, Maura Higgins was seen in a nude, curve-hugging latex dress. The Irish TV star made a famous splash last year in a latex one-piece cupped bodysuit posing on the cover of MAXIM.
A most notable runway moment with latex (and quite a bit of alt. designs) happened at New York Fashion Week two nights ago, at Anna Bolina’s show. With her models wearing supersized basketball shorts, body sleeves, and for us to salivate over particularly, studded latex, the designer surely is worthy of this recent right-up from V: Anna Bolina Solidifies Her Place as Womenswear Disruptor for the NYFW FW25 Season – V Magazine.
Lastly at New York Fashion Week, countering the Grammy-couture-seen-round the world, Julia Fox came into the “I Only Wear MAC” show, parodying her ex and lady, Kanye West and Bianca Censori. As much known for her provocative wardrobe choices at NYFW (as any other outing) the Uncut Gems stars wore what amounted to an orange latex ‘breastplate’ molded to her chest, with a beige trench coat over it.
