It was a week of fashion news (beyond Sydney Sweeney’s genes/jeans controversy), and there was even some latex in that news. So, with no further preamble, this was the week that was, (somewhat) in fashion…
Miranda & JLo Exposed: Miranda Lambert experienced some slightly unexpected ‘southern exposure’ while appearing on stage at an outdoor music festival in a denim mini skirt. And Jennifer Lopez’s skirt fell off mid-performance during a show last week, exposing her high-waisted gold underwear, to which she joked in part, ”I’m glad I had underwear on. I don’t usually wear underwear.”
It makes one wonder about the on-stage dressers and stylists.
LeRoy Neiman Fashion: Although a well-known sports artist, the late LeRoy Neiman will be honored with a showing at the Kent State University Museum, called “LeRoy Neiman: A Keen Observer of Style.” This exhibition, beginning on Halloween this year, showcases Neiman’s early career as a fashion illustrator. Eighty-five of Neiman’s fashion illustrations and sketches from the 50s to the 90s will be on view until the end of June next year.
The Ultimate Goth Girl Wears Latex: Lastly, and finally, about some latex couture, “Wednesday” Jenna Ortega was dressed in anything but her character’s signature Goth black at last week’s London premier of the Netflix hit show’s 2nd season. Wearing a cream-colored latex snakeskin dress, the 22-year-old actress cut a deliciously seductive figure in her high-necked, semi-sheer top, which featured a mermaid-style skirt with ruffles.
The rest of the cast did not disappoint in their alternative couture either.
There was Joanna Lumley in an embellished cape gown. Joy Sunday wore a knitted dress with lace stockings. Catherine Zeta-Jones, grand dame “Morticia Addams,” in the show, was in a backless high-necked gown with a keyhole cutout. And Billie Piper wore a lace plunging dress.
Surely there won’t be long to wait for some more interesting fashion news to befall us all.
