Golden Globes Couture

So, we caught no latex outfits or even latex accessories at the just-passed Golden Globes. But there were a few juicy sightings of some rather cool couture among all the usual red carpet interview walk-ins, high Hollywood glamour, and a reported extravagant attendee ‘goodie bags’ filled with over a million dollars’ worth of stuff.
Melissa McCartney sported a flared Christian Siriano jumpsuit with a pink ruffled cape. The cape was so large that it delayed the Bridesmaids‘ star fifteen minutes as she tried to negotiate into her limo.
Ariana Grande, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Elle Fanning opted for vintage gowns. Grande in a yellow Givenchy from 1966, Taylor-Joy’s slip dress came from the Dior archives and Fanning Elle wore a vintage Dior cheetah dress.
Dwayne Johnson wore a light lavender jacket and shirt paired with black pants. Ali Wong was in bright red. Nicole Kidman came dressed in a daring open-backed Balenciaga. Eddie Redmayne was in a checked suit.
A trend for the night seemed to be opera gloves. Stars who accessorized with them were Kerry Washington, Ali Wong, Pamela Anderson, and Cristin Milioti.

Host Nikki Glaser managed an impressive turn through ten different outfits during the night, including a gold satin Prabal Gurung column gown, a couple of classic LBD’s and a corset and slit dress with a flared skirt, to name just a few.
Sure, every year with this award show and pretty much all the others we all watch, we hope for at least some alternative fashion turns, hoping beyond hope we’ll catch a hint of latex here or there. And although we saw none this year, the globes did allow for some peeks at old Hollywood style nobody can ever much complain about.
And it was nice to see Demi Moore win an award for acting after all this time. She wore a strapless bespoke Giorgio Armani Privé metallic gown with a sculptural neckline set with Swarovski crystals.
