Netflix’s Emily in Paris isn’t a show specifically championing latex couture…but we love it all the same. Now it seems the audience who has made the show a hit wants to love it live.
Atomic Venus Media and Paramount have announced their partnership to bring the famous Netflix series on tour across the US in the upcoming spring. As you have read of our coverage of or even participation in live fashion performances, the “Couture on Tour: An Emily in Paris Experience” sounds like it will be quite the event even a casual fashionista will flock to.
Really, what could be better than seeing a beloved streaming series in a live setting with all the contingent modern-day marvels of staging, lights, and sound?
Inspired by Emily in Paris costume designer Marylin Fitoussi, who is also working as the creative consultant for the tour, the live show will recreate the Netflix show’s fictional La Trompette Bleue venue. Looking bring the show’s creator Darren Star’s time in Paris to ‘life’, as Emily in Paris does so well on screen, the stage version will include the ubiquitous “interactive elements”….which could really mean anything. But from the press reports it seems audiences will be able to get up close to recreations of Emily’s signature wardrobe and scenes of the show.
To tickle just a smidgen of what the show is likely to offer.
Marie Marks, Paramount’s senior VP of themed entertainment says of the show, “The beauty and fashion of ‘Emily in Paris’ will make for a unique and whimsical in-person experience for fans.”
US cities included on the tour include Denver, Atlanta, Nashville, Kansas City, St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Ft. Lauderdale, to name but a few. The show will mark Santa Monica-based AVM’s first major touring production.
Furthermore, Variety just reported that Emily in Paris will return to Paris for filming its fifth season but will also shoot in Rome, as it has been doing. Other international destinations are being considered for the show’s further scenes but have not yet been divulged.
